Tonka Trucks were the best.
The Big Ass Club: These people looked deep within my soul and assigned me a number based on the order in which I joined.
Tonka Trucks were the best.
Amen!

Die Cast Matchbox Cars rocked.
But, the best, by far, was the die cast Voltron III (the five lions).

Damn near every toy I got as a kid was metal, from robots to trains to Tonka trucks. I had a Tonka fire engine that must've weighed 40 pounds. The locomotive on my Lionel train set was about 10 pounds.
When I see the toys my niece and nephews have (all plastic) I feel bad that they'll never know the joy of slicing their hand open or nearly killing a friend with them.

I loved GI Joes but dont remember them being metal. My favorite was the one with the beard, even before the kung-fu grip version came out.
I also like the original Planet of the Apes figures, Star Trek figures and "Legends of the West" plastic dolls, Johnny West, General Custer, Geronimo, Sam Cobra, etc.
I'm old...

I remember when a friend got the GI Joe cannon that fired little plastic rockets, I had to get one.

Though mine had the barrel blocked, and no rockets, but the firing mechanism still worked.

So when I finally broke out the plastic disc blocking the barrel I used to use pens and pencils as the projectiles.
