View Full Version : When was the last time you used a popcorn popper or Jiffy Pop stove top pan?
Just made a bag of Microwave popcorn and realized that I haven't used a Popcorn Popper since my Grandfather's house 13 years ago. It was always an event when we broke it out and was a good family thing. (I'm getting into my holiday depression so I'm getting nostalgic)
And just as a side note, I probably haven't had one of those Jiffy Pop pans since I was 10 (17 years ago)

I have a popper. I use it every now and then. I like microwavable popcorn much better. We are all so spoiled.

Thanks to Toddevf for sig pic
I have NEVER had Jiffy Pop. And it's been about 10 years since I used a popper. Microwave is just so much easier.

Just about two weeks ago I made two jiffy pops. It was still kinda cool to watch the foil expand and burst with fresh pop corn but for some reason it didnt taste the same.

Yep. I remember the big popper with the yellow cover. It really was a big event for the family. This time of year we'd probably be popping corn to string around the tree. I started using jiffy pop when i 1st moved out. Then when I made it big, soon after buying my 1st color tv, I purchased a microwave and have been eating orville or paul ever since. But thanks for the memories, Hosp.

I think we got our first microwave about 16 years ago, so I'd say at least 16 years and a day.

I have a popcorn maker that was sitting in the microwave cart for years. I'd periodically clean it when I saw the dust reaching half an inch on it. I finally threw it in the attic a few weeks ago.
Now I want popcorn, though.

Haven't had a microwave since I moved out of my parent's (11 years ago). Just bought a house with a micro but didn't throw the hot air popper out. It never burns & you can put REAL butter on it.... brb gonna go pop some now.... <P>

Damn, now I have to go find my popcorn popper. I haven't used it in ages, though.
The best thing about it was that little butter cup where you could melt a pat of butter (not much more, sadly) to pour on the popcorn when it was done.
I want some Jiffy Pop again too.

Probably just last year was the last time I used our big yellow topped, NOISEY ASS popcorn popper. We never used those Jiffy Pop things.
It makes GREAT popcorn. So much LIGHTER than that microwave shit. I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE mocrowave stuff too, but there's such a clean taset to the air popped stuff. The BIG problem is flavoring it yourself with salt and the oil/metled butter.
But just think, if you want to put those old fashioned strings of popcorn on your tree, what are you gona do? String that GREASY shit from the bag? NO! You'll get out that old air popper and have a ball!
That sounded so gay.

Bought one of the Jiffy Pop's about a year ago, reliving old memories. Fun to watch the foil expand, but no real flavor.
