View Full Version : Favorite School Lunch
When I was at my sister's house for Thanksgiving I saw my niece's schedule for what they were serving in the cafeteria this month. They're serving some weird stuff. There was "Brunch for Lunch" where they would give the kids french toast sticks and sausage patties. Or chicken fajitas and mexican rice. What is the deal with this? When did things get so fancy? We never go that kind of stuff when I went.
My favorite lunch was the fish filet that had a small pocket of cheese built right into it. What a marvel of modern science! I loved those things, but we only got it like twice every three months. It came with an ice cream scoop of cole slaw and 4 tater tots. The only other lunch that came close was the grilled cheese sandwich in the plastic bag. I'm not even sure what was in it was really cheese but it was great.

I always wondered why the chowder was served out of the same bucket the janitor soaked his mop in.
Next time it could be me on the scaffolding.

Pizza Day, no doubt about it. It was the only day you could safely eat Cafeteria food.

Wow, sounds like a lot of you had a MUCH NICER cafeteria than we did in Aaron Decker of Richard Butler schools here in Butler.
Pizza was nice, but if the old women burned it, you were sunk.
I guess Chicken Nuggets or Chicken Patties were my favorite. They're essentially the same fucking thing, just in a different size.
Oh, and WHAT WAS UP WITH SALADS?? Iceberg lettuse with 2 shreds of red cabbage in it ARE NOT A SALAD! And your choice of French or Itlaian dressing. 2 is NOT A CHOICE! It's an insult, and I say GOOD DAY SIR!

POWER AND CHAOS
My school had the french bread pizza but that wasn't every friday. During Lent we wold get it every other friday alternating with the industrial tuna salad.
And for the kids who didn't want the meal of the day they had peanut butter and jelly on a hot dog roll. God my grade school was cheap.
When I went to high school, the only thing people ordered at my first high school was just french fries. You got a bowl full of them for 75 cents. At my second high school nobody ever ate in the lunch room unless they had a death wish and I went to Westchester Square for either White Castles or Wendy's. Plus there was this deli that had video games outside and I spent most of my time there.

My favorite was Domino's pizza every other Tuesday.
That would be first if we didnt have breakfast for lunch at my school. Sausages, mini pancakes and a hash brown. I would smother everything in syrup and it was SO GREAT!

There were these Pork Puff Pastries that were amazing. Not quite sure what was in them but it tasted great. The real question mark (as was most) was the gravy.
The tacos were the most fun thing to eat as we wuld get the two skimpy tacos and thenwould split the toppings between the both of us and leave none for everyone else. We had to dig through the lettuce and government cheese to find the tacos then.
The Peanut Butter Surprise was also great as my one friend and I would eat it and spit it out and eat it and spit it out over and over. We got kicked out of the cafeteria many times for just being sick F's.

I have to go with pizza day, our school had square slices but I'm not sure they were thick enough to call sicilan. My high school did have a snack bar in the caff were you could get really good chocolet shakes.

I would have to agree with Moe on the chicken nuggets/pattie. It was the only food in the Clifton school system I trusted to be what they said it was.
But don't take my word for it...Doot-Doo-Doot!!

I always brought my own lunch. I was afraid of the lunch ladies they scared the shit out of me like bizzare circus clowns with their fucked up make up. My high school didn't serve lunch, but when I was broke I found Ballet dancers would order huge lunches but never eat them.

In order, chicken patty on a bun, pizza, and tacos. The tacos actually were an interesting foodstuff, in taco form they were fairly atrocious, but busted up and made into a taco salad they were quite palatable. Of course the old standby bowl o' fries was good. My High School actaully had a choice of regular or seasoned curlies for 25 cents more. I guess that come with the privelege of going to school in Wayne.

We have french bread pizza every couple of weeks. Ooh Frenchy.
We never had tacos, but we did have Jamaican Beef Patties. And there was this special treat we always got right before christmas. It was peanut butter and jelly on a chocate graham cracker that was covered in choclate. These things were sweet. But we always got them the last school day before christmas.
The stuffed shells were all right and they are the same kind that are available at the wholesale clubs.

Pizza bagels were key, in sixth grade my town opended a new high tech elementary school. That's when I first experienced the grilled cheese on a soft pretzel. It was a pretzel split in 2 with cheese in the middle. Definetly clutch

I hardly ever ate the food at my school. Nasty food served by nastier looking people. The only things I would eat were the hot pretzels and sometimes the pizza, mostly just stuck with Hostess products.

In elementary school every Friday they alternated pizza (like form the pizza place next door) or McDonald's (only hamburgers and cheeseburgers).
In high school, bagels and tater tots. Oh and chocolate milk.
