I always thought that the third jerseys should be the lighthouse logo that they introduced with the Fisherman logo. Most people liked the lighthouse but hated the Fisherman.

For those of you not from Long Island (or just plain didn't know)...(and care).

The reason the Islanders colors are navy blue and orange is because those are the official colors of Nassau County, Long Island, the home base of the franchise.

Nassau County was created or annexed from Queens County, mostly because people wanted a split between the more urban Queens and rural Nassau.

The eventual choice of Nassau stemmed from the Crown's original name for Long Island (Nassau Island) named in honor of William of Orange of the house of Nassau.

Absolutely awful. I've noticed that I always have a definite opinion when teams change their uniform or go with an alternate. I'm never wishy washy on it, it's a "love it or hate it" thing with me.

I wish my Cincinnati Reds still wore the uniforms from the Big Red Machine days, however the current Cincinnati Bengals uniform is a vast improvement over their old ones from the '70's.

On Thanksgiving, it was great to see the New England Patriots in their old uniforms and helmets. The newer look is hideous, and they look like a USFL team. The Lions, Cowboys, and Redskins, though, are better off sticking with their current looks.
