Is it only me that hates those "Budweiser True" commercials with bands like the Goo-Goo Dolls and Hobbastank spewing about their love of music?

And at the end it goes:

"This Moment of True Music Was Brought To You By Budweiser Beer."

Any TRUE BAND wouldn't prostitute themselves for a beer commercial?

True?

I mean I saw the Goo Goo Dolls in the 80's when they really were TRUE and not MTV glam boys... when they were touring supporting a great cd called Hold Me Up. God help any band that takes the $ to be "True" now.

Imagine Fugazi or Neil Young on a Bud True commercial - NOT!!!

Keep it real.

Support indie music.

PS - What's next for Anheuser-Busch? King Cobra "Keepin'it Real Fo My Hommies" commercials with Ol' Dirty Bastard and Tequiza "Verdad" commercials with Marc Anthony?

HEINOUS!

I liked Superstar Car Wash

Like 10 years ago, Budweiser did a spot where they'd play music for an up and coming band, then say brought to you by Budweiser. Illinois-based band The Poster Children turned them down, thinking promoting beer with their music wasn't in their best interest. It's interesting to find integrity once in a while.

For years and years bands have been selling out to commercializm.

Band you grew you thinking they would NEVER sell out.

Bands like Aerosmith and Black Sabbath.

I'm split on this selling out thing. For one yes you want to support the indie music.

But on the other side, lets say YOU wrote a song that can make you millions...I know 99.99999999% of you would whore that fucker out to a douche commercials if the pay was right.

So I say support the Indie music, and if that band makes it big....be happy for them, dont start calling them sell outs. Why support a band until they make it to the big leagues?

Bands try so hard to get to that status, then the fans turn on them. Money talks. This might be off the subject, but the Bud light commercials,"Real American Genous(?)", rule

I heard that one of these commercials is coming out featuring the Donnas. The only guess I could have is that maybe with so many corporations in the same bed these days maybe the record label is in cahoots with Budweiser. The Goo Goo commercial is annoying as is the Hoobastank one. Goo Goo Dolls I would say deserve it as will the Donnas because I know they have been around for a while. Hoobastank (and correct me if I am wrong) are still upstarts and how do they get the push?

Ah selling out is still the great American dream huh? Think of it this was, Rancid got big the same time as Green Day. Green Day sold themselves out and Rancid didn't. Who's still around? And yet when I ran Rancid.net we would get half a million unique impressions a month. Selling your sould doesnt always mean more fans, it just means you're more likely to become a flash in the pan one hit wonder.

Listen, I know you're in a band. Now lets say Ford comes to you and says "Moe, we need a deathmetal song that can make the ne Ford Explorer look bad ass. We'll give you $15,000 for it."

Man, you got to be in-fucking-sane if you aint spending everyday rockin out to the new deathmetal Ford song.

That's different. That's a largely unknown band getting a chance for some amssive exposure and a whole new audience. I don't see that as selling out. Selling out is when an already set artist, like the Goo Goo Dolls, decides they need even MORE millions and whores themselves out, knowing that it's their name more than anything that's gonna sell this product, not the music.
