The BEST 80's songs are on the new Grand Theft Auto video game. Check it out...you will laugh when you realize your remember the words to EVERY FREAKIN' SONG. By the way...its an awesome game filled with guns and hookers (and yes...I'm a chick).

cool thread Blondie. Except its GTA: Vice City (which is 4) not GTA 3. But you're right. The soundtrack is like one of those totally 80s infomercials.

GTA 3 suffers from the most unresponsive control scheme EVER. It's origins as a console port really mars what could have been an interesting game.

GTA 3 is awesome on the PC... I have all my MP3's playing on the radio.. I hope Rockstar makes GTA4 for the PC really really soon.. GTA3 took like 5 months to be ported for the PC

What do you like about GTA #3?
The graphics are very good, but not state of the art.
It's open ended which may or may not be a plus or minus to the particular gamer.
The sound is excellent.
You can have sex with and kill hookers. You can kill other people. You can steal cars.
Does that make a good game? Well it might be cool if the feature added to gameplay. It doesn't in GTA 3
I play about 25 games a year (start to finish) and numerous demos. The gameplay and control in GTA 3 is the worst I've ever seen.
EDIT: An example of the sloppiness of the port is that you cannot resume your game from where you left off, (mid mission) but instead, must rely on a pre-mission save point. Save limitations are OK in consoles but are unexcusable in a PC game.

I love open ended games.. I like to explore the world on my own terms.. I do agree on the no saving midmission stuff.. The graphic are awesome on the PC. I run it with 4x Anti-Aliasing and it blew me away. At 1024X768X32 resolution. I mean it's not up to the graphics in GORE or serious Sam.. 2 games in the same price range.. It was suppose to have similar play/graphics to Max Payne.. so at certain times of the day things get washed out...
Of course when DOOM 3 comes out everything else will look like complete crap. I have played the DEMO HOLY S... I can't wait for it to come out.. That will set the bar in graphics yet again. Just like every other major releases from ID.
The controls of GTA3 aren't bad at all. I use the Keyboard and Trackball with no problem.
-----------------------------
The plot of GTA hasn't changed through the first 3.. GTA 3 should have been called GTA3D whihc is what Rockstar was going for... The game play from this perpective is much better than the previous games...
Plus I love to cause complete havoc every once in a while and paint the city in blood.. It's a good way to releve stress.

I have the Radeon 9700 Pro, the fastest card on the market and GTA doesn't look nearly as good as NOLF 2 for example. I place GTA in the same graphical catagory of Aliens vs. Predator 2, which came out about a year ago.
Of course Doom 3 (of which I have a screenshot as wallpaper) will blow away any game currently out in the graphics department. We have to hope they don't fuck up the gameplay or story. As every FOGF (follower of Gorden Freeman) knows, story is crucial!
Perhaps, the trackball gives you a degree of control not possible w/a keyboard/mouse combo.

even though Vice City's soundtrack is pretty good, i usually like to listen to R&F when i'm playing. but i do like to listen to Emotion and VRock most of the time for songs like 'Africa' and 'She Sells Sanctuary'. and when i'm hanging out in little Havana i flip on Espantoso. :) i'll admit though that theres too many commercials.
I, ah...I'm not much of a "word" person...

The 80's soundtrack is amazing. Imagine if it came out for XBOX and you could edit ron and fez into the radio stations. That'd be amazing.

i just picked up the new GTA Vice City for my 12 and 10 year old daughters...
i had picked up the prior version of GTA for them about a year back...
it strikes me funny to watch them play the game and they are a couple of "good girls" who make the high honor roll and I would rather them learn about life and things in general at home and not elsewhere...
i've got to listen for them 80's songs...

What do you like about GTA #3?
WHAT DONT YOU LIKE. I dont really understand why that game is so addictive, all i can say is i love it. I have it for PC so the controls arent that bad, and i have a Radeon 7000 and runs as smooth at peanut butter. Whats better than picking up hookers, and getting your money back, or running over cops, or having sex in a pimped out hydralics car while running over cops listenin to snoop dog. I cant wait for christmas when i get Vice City.

2) Wow, I had NO idea
Horde King was such a
gaming buff. Impressive.
3) Patches: GTA: Vice City
is not GTA4. GTA4 is a
separate game and it is,
according to Rockstar, in
the works.

CHICKENHAWK - It all started with "Collosal Cave" and the first "Adventure." Later I played all the Infocom games (Best one Planetfall). I remember being amazed when Roberta Williams formed Sierra and published the first Kings Quest. Fast forward about 12 years and her husband released Wing Commander III, one of the few FMV games that was excellent. (Now he's working on a new Freespace game).
I remember the first Ultima and the wonder that was Ultima IV. (That game made me switch from a monochrome to a color monitor).
The most anticipated game in the distant future is Doom 3. (I'd add Duke Nukeum Forever, but after 5 years in development it's safe to say that it is vaporware. Better vaproware than a Daikatana-like disaster.)
In the meantime Elite Forces 2 should be out before Christmas. There is rumor of Half Life 2 late in 2003. Valve better get to work!
So hell yeah, I'm a hard core gamer.
