:::showing my age:::
ok.... yeah, i'm old school...probably more like pre-school... i was going to nj/ny/hc shows "way back in the day" (as the kids these days call it... hehehe)
...anyways, i read a bunch of the posts between you two (johnnybravo & Terror) in FMJeff's thread & it brought back a lot of old memories... i guess i would have been considered more of a "metalhead" way back when, but i went to a lot more punk shows, than i ever did metal shows... some of my earliest shows that stick out in my mind were, the Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Bad Brains, Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, Gang Green and the list could go on forever... but the cool thing is, I saw all of those bands, plus many, many more @ the Show Place in Dover, NJ which is now a recording studio/go-go bar... it was a go-go bar way back then too... it was always funny watching the dancers freak out when the bands started playing...
Plus, I used to go to CB-GB's every sunday for the matinee (didn't matter who was playing, as long as it was loud & fast) and then sometimes, leave CB's right after the last band & hual ass down to Trenton to see somebody else playing at City (Shitty) Gardens... ahhh, those were the good ol' days....
ok, don't remember if it was in this thread or the other one, but somebody mentioned Murphy's Law... well, all i have to say is Jimmy is the Godfather of the NY Punk scene as far as i'm concerned... I had the privilege & honor of working for them as a roadie for many shows... I love Jimmy like he's a brother...
ok... now i'm gonna throw out the names of some of the lesser known NY/NJ punk bands from that era that i can still recall... let's see if anyone has heard of any of them... who knows... maybe we were in the pit together... Mental Abuse, Criminal Insticts, Lethal Agression, Leeway, Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuts, Bedlam & one my all time favorite bands from the NJ punk scene... Adenelin O.D.
damn.... i know there are a thousand more bands i can't think of right now, but when i do, i'll post them...

YO FELLAS i think i'm older than you guys. does anyone remember a club called patrix in new brunswick i saw the circle jerks there, it was so long ago i don't even know the year also saw black flag there. i used to hang at cb's late 80's early 90's w/ a cat named elio. he tattooed alot of guys in the nyhc scene. probably the best known would be the apocalyptic jesus scene on roger mirets whole chest and stomach. does anyone remember the band breakdown?i know the other 2 bands aren't nyhc but what the fuck
"don't make me come over there for you tough guy"

I was a traveling CT punk/hardcore/metal kid, and wanted to pop in and profess my love for H20, The Hammers, and even some of the "newer" bands Vision of Disorder, and Candiria. Goddammit, i miss that whole scene. I don't know about NY kids but us CT kids bounced between NYC, Boston, Hartford and to a lesser extent Danbury and Bridgeport were our stamping grounds. Extend the area to there and you get into the Dropkick Murphys and the like.
