sold out on star wars widescreen dvd my ass. someone said that they're holding them in the back so they can get rid of the fullscreen versions. and me like a fool, went somewhere else, not finding it odd that only an hour had past since they opened. so if you by any chance go there, insist on making whoever is in that section check the back like a good little boy. thats without making a scene of course.
and $16.99 isnt that much of a leap from $9.99, but with those extra bucks i could have bought me a nice fat burrito from taco bell.
now i didnt get to see attack of the clones in theaters so off i go....
oh and the lord of the rings special edition is very cool too. :)
I, ah...I'm not much of a "word" person...

They had a lot more full screen versions at the toys R us by my house. I got my widescreen version. The rain kept people away. I was second in line, I got there about 15 minutes before the store opened.
Thank you Ron and Fez for finally being live in DC.

It's bad enough that I got scammed into buying E.T. full frame. I will not settle for anything other than widescreen for Star Wars. Didn't there used to be a time when all DVDs could be seen in either wide or full screen? <P>

ask them for the circular and take it to some place that will price match. i.e. walmart, target, etc.

Hey, Mr, Happy pants, don't you think that there were possibly a couple of hundred people before you that also just wanted the Widescreen version? And wouldn't it make sense that half of their stock would be Full Screen. Toys R' Us did it this wayfor a reason and obviously it worked. And if you were going to a smaller store it's possible that they only got 100 units total.
Like Jon said, go to a major chain that does the price guarantee or just but a fullscreen copy, keep it closed, and in a few weeks exchange it for the wide screen version.

Wow, life is tough.
nah...its not so bad. i could be a 12 year old haitian boy complaining about the corner store selling me outdated milk.
Hey, Mr, Happy pants,
geez, some people read into things too seriously dont ya think? of course i was pissed off about not being able to buy my burrito, but i'm not going out of my way to price match my lost 7 bucks. i may be impulsive, but i'm no 12 year old haitian boy.
the reason for posting this was primarily for others thinking about buying the widescreen dvd. but thanks for your advice though. :)

i just got the first ticket i saw and went to the counter. the cashier had a small stack of both versions but my ticket was 'fullscreen'(fucking misnomer) and i promptly told her to get me the wide. good thing she had a widescreen ticket or i woulda had to drag my ass up to the 3rd floor of the union sq. store and hope they had them. all i know is this fullscreen nonsense makes me sick, but i can understand why TRU would have so many of them, since their customers are most likely not movie buffs.
i noticed the dvd had a lot of noise and bleeding in any scene with the color red in it. can any videophile confirm/explain this?
