when Ron and Fez were talking about the Simpsons, on the repeat today, i just had to start up this thread...yeah theres probably many threads like this on the board, but the simpsons deserve as many as they can get.
Best Simpsons scene:
it was the one where lisa has a crush on nelson...Lisa gave Milhouse a note to pass to Nelson. as our blue haired friend gave nelson the note, e gave him a little smile. then nelson reads the content of the letter, at which point the very next scene is Milhouse being loaded into an ambulance...

The ultimate classic was the one where they go to the beachhouse and Bart is using Millhouse's glasses as binoculars...f***ing classic scene. The whole episode is great though...that is when Homer also blows upo the dishwasher with the M-360

Favorite episodes of mine are when Homer gives Bart the Rules of the Schoolyard and when Bart becomes a Nerd.

Recently the show isn't even as funny as the umpteenth time I watch The Critic reruns on Comedy Central.

To go along with knowledged one, another great herb line was at the Hullabalooza, when the music started.
Bart: What's the smell?
Lisa: I don't know, it smells like Otto's jacket.
That took me to the floor.

Favorite Simpson's episode, not that it's easy to pick just one, but my all time fave is probably the rarely scene softball episode, with all the baseball player cameos.
Well, Mr. Burns had done it, the power plant had won, with Roger Clemens clucking all the while....
Very close runner-up might be where Bart joins Fat Tony's gang.
Both are classics!!!

blakjeezis along those lines have you noticed that they cut a scene from that original episode of hullabalooza. There is a point where jimbo says "man that dudes guitar is talking (refering to peter frampton) at which point otto says my shoes are talking and they cut to a scene of ottos shoes talking to him (an obvious acid reference) but this has been removed from the syndicated repeats.
this isnt the only time i have noticed them cutting small parts from episodes either

Actually, synicators trim about 30 seconds off most episodes upon releasing them for syndication.
It allows local affiliates to garner some extra advertising revenue.
You'll notice it a lot on Seinfeld for instance, where the cost per airing is rather high.

I've noticed TBS Seinfeld reruns have commercials in the wrong place, they just cut a sceen. That sucks.

They haven't been "Simpsons Funny" since the 7th season. The old days of simpsons are television at its best. My favorite moment would have to be Homer skateboarding down the Springfield Gorge. Funniest line was probably when the family was playing mystery date with millhouse and homer said "STICK UP FOR YOURSELF POINDEXTER!"

I still love the show, and it's easily the funniest thing on TV (Though "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is catching up fast), but it's last something in the last few years. It sounds sappy, but the show lost it's heart. Despite all the surreal, wacky and sarcastic humor, there was always some kind of emotional core that made you realize this family loved each other. Now it's like they truly are just soulless animated puppets dancing for our amusement.
