you may remember scatman as the shiner in The Shining, or, if you go way back, the janitor in Zapped, starring Scott Baio and Willie Ames. He ended up incinerating Baio and Ames' pot. As a result, he had an hallucinatory experience of him longing for a salami that his wife, Esther from Sanford and Son, kept from him for health reasons. Very surreal, a la Fellini.

I was always partial to his performance on The Love Boat as an old minstrel who sang "The Hambone".
