the joker, penguin, bane, riddler, two-face...batman has one of the most interesting and diverse rouges gallery in all of comics even though some of his villains weren't always portrayed well on screen. and now that super artist Jim Lee is doing work on the main Bat book i wanna know who your favorite villains are and whether or not you might look into purchasing this arc...

i guess you mean george gershin from the tv show starring adam west and burt ward. i take it that grim is talking bout nicholson from the movie but the joker on the show was played by ceasar romero wasnt he?

mine has been and always will be the joker, but not the joker from the movies or the joker from the cartoon, the joker from the comic. this is a character so sick in the head that he paralyzes batgirl in one moment on one page without anything but a smile, no words no thoughts not even a face just that sick toothy grin. that moment defined him as my favorite bats villian forever

NERD ALERT. Anyone else see the Superman Cartoon episode where Superman pretended to be Batman and beat the shit out of Bane? That one was friggin great and ended the Superman vs. Batman debate for me. O.K I was a late bloomer.

someone fast and quick like bane is certainly the most frightful, but someone like the riddler is great cuz he's damn entertaining with his puzzles.

im pretty sure that batman beyond is outside of continuity or only going on the continuity of the cartoon. if you read the comics barbara gordon is confined to a wheel chair and can be seen every month in the birds of prey comic or if you really wanna put yourself through it, every week on the birds of prey tv show.

as much of a badass batman is, why doesnt he kill? if your life and the life of your crimefighting partner are constantly in jeopardy, wouldnt you wanna eliminate that risk?

so im guessing no one here knows any of these villains outside of the cartoon, movies, or old tv show. splendid. my attempt has once again failed to bring comics to the forefront...alas i feel weak.

sorry i dont share your fanaticism for batman. in the brief period when i collected comics it was all things marvel. right after that the batman cartoon came on. it's one of the best shows ever. since then i've preferred my batman animated, in 22 minute chunks(give or take). i picked up the jim lee issue and was disappointed by the lack of events. the entire comic would've been done in 5 minutes of animation, if that.

yes i did read origin and thought i was excellent. paul jenkins does great work on pretty much anything he touchs and i think it was excellent insight into the company's most mysterious character.

Indeed he was. He was in charge of Egyptology at Gotham College, or some other corny named local institutuion. Everytime he got hit on the head, he turned into a Arch Villian!
