This is a very interesting article about the diplomatic cluster shtupp in Asia. N. Korea has done so much to its neighbors (researching nukes, abducting Japanese for a spy program) yet politics and diplomacy are being weilded in such a way that they are still coming out on top.

If i was japan, I'd be crapping my pants about this. Just what they need: a nuclear power that would love to get retribution for the atrocities leveled on them during the japanese occupation in WWII. But Japan seems more concerned about the kidnapped citizens and on normalizing diplomatic relations. It seems that no one wants to step up and say that "nukes are wrong."

Why should the US get to determine who gets nukes and who doesn't? We are the only country who actually used the bomb, so I think it's ironic that we are telling other countries that they can't have a nuclear weapons program. Maybe we should have patented the a-bomb when it was developed so we could sue other countries that develop these types of weapons. <P>
