Who are you voting for for Governor of NY? I like Golisano. There are some polls that have him finishing second, pushing McCall to third.

I like Golisano, but i'm wary of independents. If it's not Golisano, it'll be Pataki.

One word: Perot

i backed him in 92 because i liked the idea of change from the reagan/bush years. They were good years for America, but like most, we all wanted a change. I couldn't vote for Clinton because he is scum.

Perot come off making scense. But he became demented as the campaign wore on. So the problems with independents is you don't know where they're coming from. You don't know what to expect from them. There's no baseline on which to judge them, like there is with Democrats & Republicans.

Golisano is running a very negative campaign. I find it hard to vote for anyone who feels the need to tear down other people instead of presenting themself. and if Pataki gets re-elected, there may be no SUNY system left. He's been cutting it repeatedly (probably because he knows that students and teachers tend to vote democrat, so he wouldn't be losing any votes anyway)

McCall has experience, and he has intelligence. I think he'll make a wonderful governor

There are rumors that Golisano may run for president in 2002. I'm not sure that I like that. I always hated presidential candidates that never held a public office before. Perot had some good ideas, but he should have at least run for governor or senator before president.

I am hungry for a real independent party in the USA. The Reform party started out really strong with the Perot 92 run, then the Ventura victory in Minnessota, but it was weakened by the power struggle between Perot and Ventura. And the Buchanan campaign was an embarassment. Now the Reform party has booted out the Buchanan regime and moved back to its centrist roots, but I don't think the country will take them seriously ever again.

In order for a 3rd party to really gain equal status with the Republicans and Democrats, they will need to get seats in State congresses, then the US Congress, then they can start fielding presidential candidates. Even if Perot won, he wouldn't get anything done because he would have a congress that hated him more than Nixon.

see, this is what i'm talking about. independents tend to be mentally unbalanced. running for president in a non-election year. :)

Im watching these debates on channel 2 and channel 7 and that pussy Galisano is trying to find every way to insult Pitaki, when there is another canidate, McCall, right across the table, who he could insult.

I'm voting Pataki again. Golisano has yet to say what he might do for the CITY or Long Island..

I'd vote for Golisano
I have no idea why anyone said that he's running a very negative campaign. Every campaign has negative ads in it, and he's not doing any more of those than anyone else.
Everyone else is scum

Pataki.

Golisano is an idiot. When asked why he was spending all that money and why he wanted to be governor his reply was "beats playing golf." The man has an assload of money, he's bored, so he wants to be governor. He goes on TV and flat out lies. Remember when he said 300,000 jobs were lost in NY under Pataki? He neglected to mention that 500,000 came in, for, yep you guessed it, a +200,000 growth. Just because someone is not a career politician and is an outsider does not mean they are the best man for the job.

So you're not voting, then?
