My company just announced there will be further layoffs and the Union is inquiring about who may want a Leave Package...
I'm tempted to take the 35 weeks pay and possibly 10,000 for retraining and get out of the Network business...
wish i had the youknowhat to do it and become a "massage therapist", I hear it takes a year of training and can pay well...

It just sucks being let go from a job when you haven't done anything wrong. I was there. At my last job I got nothing but praise, any situation that came up I handled and any ball busting client I got in line. On the slow days I developed tablets to reprint our invoices on the laser printer instead of having to retype entire new ones on a state of the art 1968 typewriter.

A semi-funny story(at least I see the humor in it): My company had these really fancy shipping labels made. Full color with the company's logo and properties listed on it. But any time they wanted to ship something, they would type the Shipping information on a smaller file folder sticker then attatch it to the larger shipping label. I thought this was incredibly tacky. So during a slow period I took it upon myself to format a tablet in Word so you can just send the larger label through the laser printer and have a professional looking operation. I sent this thing to everyone in the company, from mail room to president in 7 different offices across the country. Everyone thanked me. The president of the company even came to my lowly cubicle to shake my hand and thank me for taking some initative in using some of my outside abilities to help improve the company.

July 27th last year I was called into my supervisor's office and told that I was being laid off due to company down sizing. And as she handed me my severance package(2 weeks pay and some kind of contract of termination) I noticed my name in nice big bold letters, printed on a large shipping label using the table I created.

Take until November 4th then get out there and find work. Don't procrastinate and get screwed like I've been. 14 months already and I may be forced to take a shitty holiday retail job to just get by.

And fuck the elderly!! Let them find their own pharmacies.

My wife got layed off last week, and went on 2 interviews within 72 hours. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get out there. Remember the best revenge for this is to get on with your life and find a better job. We're all there for you
