View Full Version : Children in Restaurants
Today I was in Burger King. (I eat out alot as I am on the road quite a bit.)
There was a lady in there with 2 of her kids. At first they started ramming their chairs into the tables for about 10 minutes while this mother just smiled and thought it was cute.
They next started running around in circles between tables where people were eating. I was holding my tray hoping that they wouldn't come along and tip it onto the floor.
I then told the guy working there that he should say something to the mother, and that there were people with hot coffee, etc., that could have their drinks spilled.
Nothing was done. Nothing was said. These two kids just went on running around in circles until one of them literally RAMMED his head into a pole by the register and then started crying. The mother came over settled the kid down and then allowed him to run more circles around the restaurant.
What is wrong with these people? Do these mothers realize that the whole world doesn't think their child is adorable?

COCO - I absolutely agree with you, especially your pointing out that the problem isn't kids in restaurants - it's unsupervised kids in restaurants.
This is purely the responsibility of the mother and with such parental skills, the future does not bode well for these children.

I was in IKEA this weekend. I saw children GO WILD! Two kids were jumping on cots made of steel. ALL the father sais was, "Enough." Like THAT'S going to stop them? (And I'm sure if one of the kids got hurt the parents would SUE Ikea!)
Hence, I will NEVER have children! The sound of a toddler screeching makes my ovaries turn to dust.

I am walking in a starbucks with a hot coffie and there are this little kids just crying and running around then one smashes into me and i spill the fucking coffie ALL over me. i yell at the kid and call him a brat then his mother came up to me and told me i dont have the right to say it. what a bitch i wouldent of said it if she paid more attention her kids.
P.S. Burger king is NOT a resutrant.

Too bad it's not like the old days. Just the thought of gettin' whupped by my dad would keep me from acting like those kids. He wouldn't even have to hit me, it was just the clear and present danger of it that kept me from being a brat. Today, kids know that nothing will happen except a "time-out". I think they even weigh the option of what's worth it? The punishment, or the crime?
If acting like an idiot only means later on when they're home, they get a "time-out" I think they figure it's worth it.
Personally, I don't want kids, and one of the many reasons is because if my kid did that, I'd smack his ass right in front of everyone. And since that's not tolerable these days, I'd just rather not have a kid.

I know Im still young, but I have already aquirred a hatred for abnoxious kids under my age or even my own age. It makes me cringe when I hear a toddler yell constantly when Im trying to eat dinner out. It makes me even more angry when the mom just thinks he/she will stop and doesn't bother to do any thing. Ugh , If I ever had a kid I would probably loose my temper and chuck it against a wall.

If I had done that when I was a kid I would have gotten "The Look" and if I kept it up, I would get the belt.
Today, parents are expected to "reason" with their children.

I do, and if anyone has the nerve to question me I tell them to offer their opinion up after they've gone through pregancy and labor and popped my child out of their cooch.

Parents come and just dump their children in the kid's section of my bookstore and just let them go nuts. Opening up toys and packages, throwing books around, whatever. And then when they come to get the kids, the little brats start SCREECHING because they're being dragged away from their "playground." Ugh.

literally RAMMED his head into a pole
now that's funny...being he didn't get hurt too bad...
i think there needs to be a bit more discipline from the mother and a little more tolerance from the people around...
there are children who get a good ass whippin, ear pull, or hair pull and continue to act up, especially young boys... it's a tough job for a parent and you can't isolate yourself to your home...
try to ignore it as much as possible when it does occur...
i would say "it's only Burger King" and not "some nice restaurant" but that don't sound fair... you still want to enjoy a peaceful meal if possible...

I went to my girlfriend's annual softball dinner, which was held in a pretty nice restaurant. There were about 25 of us, 12 with kids. One new mother brought her newborn.
After the appetizer, the mother proceeded to change her baby's diaper right there on the table. No one said anything (including me) but I was fucking astonished. The restaurant had a bathroom. I'm still amazed that someone thinks this is acceptable behavior.
I mean, nothing like a whiff of loaded diaper just before tucking into your filet mignon.
See, the problem is that God gives men a brain and a penis, and only enough blood to run one at a time.

I used to wait tables and this was always a problem for me
I was serving hot coffee one time and this kid grabbed my arm as I had the coffee (shoulda dropped in on him) and all the mother said was oh honey please dont do that and the fuckin kid kept doing it. Finally the dad saw I was getting pissed and said knock it off or I m gonna beat your ass...the mom gave him a dirty look...I simply said thank you to the father..I hate mothers sometimes

I have a 9 year old son. And I would never allow him to act like that in public. It sickens me when I see parents let their kids get away with murder at public places. My wife and I try our best to teach our son not to do things like that.

Children in restaurants are fine.
So long as they are cooked
properly and served with a good
wine :)
My daughter is 11 and her
excellent manners are a

younger.
