Alright, I've got about 1500 CD's, and I practically listen to anything, but I've realized that power pop is what's tops for me. Teenage Fanclub, The Bluetones, The Posies, Matthew Sweet, The Lemonheads, Brendan Benson, Big Star, Jason Falkner, The Replacements, Arlo, The Shins, Fountains of Wayne...give me a good singalong, dammit. Just thought it should be said. Nobody gives a crap about songwriting anymore, so it's nice to find a sub-genre-dealie-thing where it does.

What's on right now? That's right, The Replacements. "Talent Show". Don't be afraid of the quality. It won't bite.

I'm just frustrated that I left out "with" in the thread title. Ah well, it could be worse. I could be listening to metal.

I'm eating my Power Bar, listening to the Rasberries sing "Go All The Way", possibly the greatest power pop song of all time.

PS. Mojo - I totally dig your taste in music. good for you. You should pick up "Poptopia", 3 different compilations of Power Pop, one from the 70's, 80's and 90's. The '70's one rules.

In the bins at some record store....also check eBay. Or I can burn a copy for you if you'd like. Just send me an email and I will hook you up.

That's alright James, I spent two hours this morning shopping about three dozen different online stores, and I found all three for under $12...along the way, I saw another, even better series called "Yellow Pills"...it's out of print, and was put out in the 90's by a power pop mag, and the albums are just that, 90's power pop. Great, great collections, but I'm only seeing them for about $30 each...there's also two power pop collections put out by Rhino back in '93 under their sadly out of print D.I.Y. series, but I managed to track down copies on gemm.com for under $15...

I've never even HEARD of any of those bands, but I'm assuming they're mostly gay by the responses in this thread.

That's right. But not half as flaming as nouveau punk bands. We'll try harder next time.
