When I saw this "original" clay-mation cartoon it would traumatize, tranquilize, and mezmarize me by the time it was through.Who in their right mind would try to out hammer a machine!....and then drop dead(this was a cartoon mind you). The spiritual side of this episode I'm sure is deeply imbedded in my psyche. The gospel music was beautiful. The veins and sweat poppin' outta ol' John Henry got the Bosco rushing through mine!By the end of the cartoon I was in total shock.

If they followed up with that Tubby the Tuba Concert cartoon(you know;the one with the haunting tune in it),I would just walk around like a zombie all day.

I can't get it out of my head now!!!

D&G were animated characatures(?).You know like those drawings with the big heads. This claymation cartoon tried to make the characters look real, that is until John Henry's eyes bulged out of his head and his heart pounded through his chest cavity.Somebody on this board
must know where to find these shows.

I guess it's time to shine the big "H" signal into the night sky.

He drove so hard that he burst his heart and he died with a hammer in his hand
That song always used to freak me as a kid. It's amazing what stays with you.

Wow, what a memory! That John Henry short freaked me out as a kid, especially when he died and his Mama screamed. Then the bass black guy sang "John Hen-ry has died".
I wonder if that's on VHS or DVD?
