Well, the countdown is on. The IC title will be gone after the ppv. Thanks to everbody's favorite son-in-law: Triple H. Well it had me thinking. The IC title has been around since the "historic tournament" that Pat Patterson won in Rio de Janero. There have been many great wrestlers who held this belt prior to a main event push. There have also been many wrestlers who were really good, but never had a main event push. Some of my favorite IC moments were-

-The classic Morales-Muraco feud. The best has to be the last time Muraco won the belt at MSG when Muraco had a piece of his T-Shirt on for almost the entire match.

-Santana-Valentine. Another classic feud.

-Savage-Steamboat WrestleMania 3. 'Nuff said.

-HonkytonkMan upsetting Steamboat for the title about 2 months later. The funny story about this is that "The Natural" Butch Reed was scheduled to beat Steamboat for the title, but he no-showed the taping. So Honkytonk took his place. The rest is history.

-The Ultimate Warrior squashing the HTM at Summerslam 1988. One of my first real mark out moments

-Brutus Beefcake losing back to back possible title wins at Summerslam. 1988 due to a supposed injury from Ron Bass. And 1990 after the horrible boating accident.

-Roddy Piper finally winning a singles title by beating the Mountie for the IC title at Royal Rumble 1992. Another true mark out moment for me.

-Marty Janetty coming out of the crowd at Raw to defeat Shawn Michaels.

-The classic ladder matches between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon.

Farewell IC title. You will be missed.

Oh, man. I still love that match. That was hype. They don't hype up a match like that anymore.

Michaels and Razor had some incredible matches(I want Scott Hall back in the WWE). Benoit and Jericho's Ladder Match at Royal Rumble. God i wish there was some way to keep the IC belt, it has such a history and it will now all be gone. Damn you HHH.

When Goldust beat Razor Ramon. Funny shit. When Goldie felt him up in the ring. Classic.

I'm just saying that Jannetty coming out of the crowd was very shocking at the time. I was there in person for that. It was a true mark out moment.

Steamboat/Savage
&
HBK/Razor
...without even thinking...but recently the RVD/Eddy feud was pretty great. Their regular matches were great, their ladder match was phenominal.

There's almost too many great IC moments to recall....it's a damn shame that it'll be gone soon. I don't doubt that they'll bring it back once they re-merge the rosters soon...they have to realize it's not working and bringing it all back together...but the idea that they are even considering let it go away for a short while is horrible.

...silent, but violent.

Well, tonight WWE pays a final tribute to the IC title. I really hope they somehow change their mind over this whole idea. But, of course they won't. that would be making the fans happy. Farewell IC title. You'll be missed.

the Steamboat/Savage stuff was great. the bell to the throat and the match at WM3. throw in the Elizabeth/George Steele stuff and this is my favorite Intercontinental feud. to me Savage did wonders for the belt.

That IC tribute had me in tears. At least those bastards had the heart to give us one last moment.

What about Perfect and Bret Hart for the IC? Hart reversing those low blows into the Sharpshooter was sweet as hell. A hell of a technical match too.
