while i'm on my "music is awful" rant i got to say this...

is there anything more pathetic than John Mayer? what a dave mathews rip off, it's fucking unbelievable.
he tries to sing like him, dance, do the same gay facial expressions, i can't believe it's not some kind of joke. and no one in the media ever talks about it.

and quarashi is even worse, white kids that wish they were the beastie boys so bad. their new video is a sabatoge rip off and they try to rap like them so bad. i know the american public that buys mainstream music are stupid but does no one else realize this?

what other bands do you think are just horrible imitations of other bands?

I hate the Porno/Gore movement that popped up in Death Metal last year. Livity did it well, but then like 10 other bands just copied it. They wanna bang girls, and kill them, and have sex with their decapitated heads for months while they're decaying. Yawn. The REAL joke is when you see these GREASY bastards in the band who couldn't mug Steven Hawking.

Very boring. Ever hear of Cannibal Corpse? They were making their $$ while you were still banging your hand in high school.

i know moe is gonna rip me a new one for this but here goes anyway...while bands like far, texas is the reason were playing what today would be considered emo and now every single band rips off the bands that rip off those bands and then later theres another set of bands that ripoff the other set of crappy bands. Heres a hint guys, if your going to try and be indie then why dont you be original, bands that take on this cookie cutter image like "Dashboard" (stupid fucknut, i saw this guy two years ago in an american legion hall on the island now hes playin unplugged, idiot) your going to lose everyone that helped you get that far but youll be a media darling. me, i'd rather see the same fans at everyone of my shows that i know love what i do and respect me for it than any chance at being on TRL hey dash you eat me.

Holy Sh*t me two! I went to the same show (in CT though) and i was sick with rage when out of 1000 kids only 10 people at the most could sing along with "throwing things". then all the kids in the crowd started this crappy emo clap along thing like it was a dashboard show and mac had a look on his face like he was compleatly weirded out.

Can of Soup look in the liner notes of science and youll see that one of the members of incubus thanks hoobastank and i know for a fact that they were out first. incubus was lucky enough to be able to ride that wave of edgy modern rock like korn, limp bizkit, system. bands like that. but once those other bands fell back and bands like incubus were in the forefront, hoobastank got its turn to ride coat tails.

I was ready to kill everyone at that show. The last Superchunk show I went to was 3 years ago and it rocked. This one just made me pissed off because all the kids just STOOD there and stared. I managed to start a lil bouncy thing going, then elbowed some kid in the stomach whom I was fighting with earlier. ah memories

Most of the bands in the Alternative/modern rock/nu metal or whatever you want to call it owe so much to bands like AIC, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and bands from that era. Not just the "Seattle Scene", but those types of bands. You can pick almost any band thats popular today, and quickly climb the family tree to Alice In Chains
