have you ever seen a bigger collection of frustrated ex-jocks, dimwits or slackers than the dregs that do these jobs?
nothing, i repeat NOTHING is as funny as a rent-a-cop trying to use his non-existant authority on you.
bands that hire these goons? pussies
bouncers at a club give you a hassle? get them alone outside the club(their safe haven) and do what you must.

there is a reason that most police officers openly laugh at these wanna-bes.

Ok, so first off shut up... I am a security guard. I work for one of the largest security groups in the country. Most of the people who do security are retired corrections or police officers. Now being i am 24 i do this job because one i get benefits and secondly cause it is a job.. Most of the young guards are either working through college and the hours with security make it easy to go to school.. Or they are trying to become a cop and see this as a good starting point.

the reason is because a lot of cops were once guards themselves and they remember the silly shit that they had to do............

Been a rent-a-cop 3rd shift, on the weekends, for many years. It's not rocket science but it is easy money, a good quiet place to work on my thesis and the only time I get to hear R&F (JFK weekend replays). <P>

hey irishkb, two of my closest friends are cops.
one time i heard one of them referring to two security guards as "dicks".
i asked him how he could say that to their faces.
he laughed and said: "these losers think we are referring to them as private dicks as in detectives. in reality they are just a bunch of dicks."

I've been a bouncer on & off for a few years at a few locations, including Irving Plaza(one of the bigger concert halls in Manhattan).
I have no shame, no regrets.

Just like with any profession or group, there are good ones and bad ones. Unfortunately the stereotype perpetuated is that of a bumbling lazy foreigner, etc. And, ok, not all of them exactly debunk that theory...but most do. I'll probably end up being one some day.
