So how can you tell if you are getting flirted with?

I am really out in left field here because I forget.
I feel like I am stuck in the same boat as Death Metal Moe in his "How can you tell a Woman is interested in you?" thread but this is the early stages here and I am trying to figure out if a girl is flirting with me or not.
I think quite highly of myself but still don't know how to pick up the signals when a girl is flirting with me.
For instance, today I go to the local record store and I know there is this really cute red head working there (I feel like Charlie Brown) and before I know it she comes up and initiates conversation with me and is talking to me for a while. She asked me if I lived close to the store and we had a conversation. Hell, she even grabbed my arm and dragged me down to the jazz section to show me some records. It has just been so long since I have been flirted with, I am asking here for opinions. It turns out she worked at another record shop I go to and I didn't even remember her. Man, did I feel like a dick. But was that a flirt. A nice looking girl flirting with me?? I am gonna think so but I am just gonna be cautious.
I may get a little tooling here but it usually is worth it and makes me laugh my ass off some of the responses.

I guess it depends on 2 things. Frst you need to try to figure out the type of person they are. Are they he type to wink and want attention? or are they shy? <P>
This is important cause this girl that grabbed your arm and took you to the section might be Flirting with you bigtime. IF She normaly does not do that to just anyone. Or she might be a Flirt ad just flirt with all guys. <P>
I would also look at her eyes. Go with your gut man. And if she isn't flirting with you nothing says you can't make the first move! =) <P>

mr.happy is right, some girls are just flirts in general (i think i fit in this category) but when some girls flirt it is only to show interest.

There's usually lots of eye contact, smiling, laughing/giggling, finding a way to touch you somehow and questions (it's a good sign she was asking you questions).
I would suggest going back once or twice in the near future and if she acts the same way, you might want to ask her out. Good luck, keep us posted :)

Yeah, I think I will definitely go back, not only because the store is cool, but because i want to see her. Going in yesteray, I was just wondering if she was there because once before she said hi and I wasn't sure if it was just courtesy or something more. I mean hey, every time a girl says hi, I can't think it is a flirt right? If that was the case, i would be a wreck. If anything and it is not a flirting situation, I will have found a new found love for some music I never really checked out before. i've had similar things happen to me. i'm really not good at picking up on ladies when they flirt with me. pretty clueless. i asked this girl at my job out cause i thought she was showing interest. i go to lagcc and some fem.classmates told me only 10% of males at the college are worth lookin at 6% ok 4% great. so i told the girl at my job that and added "if thats the case i dont want to know where i fit in" got a positive answer at least i think...kristy(girl's name) she says "you go there dont you?, then you're just fine trust me"...now that is just what i got from what she said. I always feel awkward when other people are around and I am about to pop the question (among other things I could pop and feel REALLY awkward about). So I saw her again today and we talked for a bit and she asked where I lived again. but the f'ed up thing is she would have these conversations around me talking just really weird shit (like she was wanting me to listen and comment) . So I listened and commented and it was cool good. Things are moving along nicely and she recommended an excellent John Coltrane and Miles Davis record to me today. Good things are coming my way I hope.

Well, out of NOWHERE (they always say it happens when you least expect it) I saw her today and she asked me what I was doing for New Years. As usual, I say nothing and I then have the balls to ask her if she wants to hang and I get a YES! A YES! For me that is so rare but I may be selling myself short a bit. Hell, even asking a girl to hang and not getting spit on or punched in the stomach is surprising to me. I just had to share this with someone here and have the little warm fuzzies now. YAY! I still question if I was getting flirted with or not. I am so bad with this. I guess the phone number and a yes should do it for me for now.

With my dreadful experiences I could but for all the bad there has been the nice share of good too. No point in dwelling on it and hating on her cause that just isn't me.
