Seven Types of English Beer Drinkers?
The Whitbread Beer Co. released a study that breaks English drinkers into seven classifications. The definitions are decidedly English. Anyone out there care to translate for those of us on this side of the pond?
Breezer:
The most common style. Drinking is just part of a good night out. Often seen in cafe bars having a relaxed drink between friends.
Steamer:
The rowdy type. Aims to drink as much as possible and, quite possibly, raise a little hell.
Poser:
Drinking is a fashion statement. Taste is set aside in favor of style. Usually involves bottled beers in trendy city bars.
Brooksider:
Hits the pub for an hour or two between work and home. Usually young men with wives or young children. A pint or two with friends, then off to the family.
Homer:
Found escaping the world in a glass of beer. Prefers the bar-and inexpensive beer-to family life.
Savourer:
The serious drinker. A beer geek. Loves real ales and will consider trying any beer once. Most likely to be a 35-45 year old male.
Adaptor:
Just turned 18 (21 in America), has a little money but no confidence and no experience to make an informed decision. Just goes with the flow.
