This was last Friday..during the day, which is why I missed the Steak-Out and other invites.
I wasn't going to mention this in a thread, but I haven't been able to sleep at all.

Has anyone else gone through this? What an awful feeling to know someone was here. I may have even been in the back yard, or downstairs.
THAT'S a Creepy thought.

Apparently, several homes on my street were 'cased'..and my lovely next-door neighbour had the worst of it. She had jewelry, paintings , cash, etc. taken.

It doesn't look like any of my stuff is missing, but I just moved and most is still in boxes.

I miss my dog more than ever.

Wow. Hope you can get some sleep. That is INDEED creepy. I guess you feel like one of the only secure places you have was violated. Sorry.

All I can say is if you like, I'll pose for a Full Sized stand up you can put in your window to keep burglars, and just about anyone else away. It REALLY works on Jehova's Witnesses.

Quinn I was so sad to hear about
this! You just can't get a break
this year! You poor thing! I hope
that bastard tripped over one of
your boxes and twisted his ankle
really bad and had a sharp
object stab his balls.

Please be very careful. Maybe it
isn't right to mention this because
you did just lose your dog
(apologizing in advance if it is in
bad taste), but how about
thinking of getting another dog
for home protection? Or a home
alarm even. If you need
someone to stay over for a while,
let me know and we can play
Monopoly for hours.

one of my worst nightmares is waking up during the night and finding out there'e someone in the house...

when I was about 10, my Mom mistakingly let 3 men with a gun into our 4th floor apt on 7th and Jersey Ave in Jersey City...
My Dad, brother(12) and brother(5) were home...they were planning to tie us up but my Mom kept telling them a cop lived on the floor below and my younger brother was crying...they ran out with just a few dollars...

another time my Mom and Dad came home and this man was walking down the stairs from our apt...right past my Mom and Dad...turns out he had already taken the TV and had come back for more but heard people coming...
my dad and older brother went driving and saw him carrying the TV... my brother gave chase but he went into an apt building and that was that...

i can understand the "violated" feeling...
stay strong!!!

I am really sorry to hear this... I have been robbed too. It was probably because things were in boxes they did not take anything. A dog is a great idea.

I actually teach self defence - specificly for women. One of the things I always tell my clients is that anything that makes noise or creates attention to you is the best. A dog does that by barking. Also makes you alert of someone coming in to your place. If you want more tips I might put up a post on things that I have taught... or ask some of NY finnest.. they know best.

hope you are ok

I was staying over at a friend's house when I was like 11, and some guy broke in through the bathroom window by the kitchen. He didn't realize that my friend's mom was right there the whole time, and as soon as he stepped through the door, she clocked him with a mop handle, knocking out three teeth. He ran his ass out, but got picked up a few miles away...schmuck.

After reading these storys I'll probably be more alert in the future. I wonder if you kept a gun with you at all times and when someone tried to rop u if u shot them if that is a crime or not... probably not. Or you could say it was his gun and u took it and shot him in self defense...

That's horrible Quinn. Are you sure they got nothing? Did you chech your underwear draw? I think for your own benefit and possible insurance reasons you should list and describe in great detail every pair of panties you own. And of course I'm serious about this and this isn't my horrible attempt at lightening up the moment or anything...

Sorry to hear about this. Its unfortunate, but at least you weren't hurt. I would suggest setting up elaborate booby traps that include paint cans, broken christmas ornaments and an iced overwalk way.

And not to be rude but
my Mom mistakingly let 3 men with a gun into our 4th floor apt on 7th and Jersey Ave in Jersey City...

Can you please explain how that happens?

It happened to me too, Quinn. These punk assholes came in and stole nothing but my electronic equipment (my XBOX, playstation2, all my games, movies, VCR, stereo, ECT.) and even though that stuff is all material things that can always be replaced, it still can't replace that haunted feeling that some creep was walking through your house looking through your personals.

I feel for you, Quinn, but at least you have your health and the things can be replaced (hopefully!) hang in there.

Jobber,

it was a solid wooden door and after they knocked my Mom asked who it was. To her it sounded like the name of one of my older brothers friends and opened the door...my Dad then installed a peep hole afterwards...and installed a lock on the front door of the Apt Bldg and a couple of doorbells...From then on we would hear the bell in the hall and would stick our heads out the window to see who was at the door...

get a dog.
a big one.

someone tried to break into my house when I was a kid. Our german shepard went apeshit. My father, who was a cop at the time, came running out of his bedroom, gun in hand. All he found was a ripped screen, blood, and Toasty still barking.

The blood didn't come from the dog. we surmised that she was probably waiting under the window till the theif started to come in.

I hope they catch your theif elle and hang him. Hang him from the lamp post outside your house, as a warning to others.

It's the only thing that works.
