That hooker thread got me thinking. How would you feel if you found out that before you met him, your guy had been to a hooker (strippers who put out and "happy endings" are counted in too, but don't weigh as heavily as a prostitute). Or what if he did WHILE he was with you?

Ehhh, I'd rather not know about it if it was BEFORE we were together (unless it somehow effects the here and now). While we're together? Yeah, no. That doesn't fly. I mean, yeah, go to a strip club and have fun, just not TOO much fun. Yanky cranky or "renting" a woman for the night? Then there's something really wrong and we need to talk.

I know this probably sounds like a dumb question, but I'm sure there are women out there who wouldn't care. "At least I don't have to sleep with him!" (And their significant others probably listen to Lykis!)

Shelle: I doubt any of your friends have probably slept with perhaps 100's of guys (as in a lot of prostitutes cases), and a lot of prostitutes are drug users. I would definitely have him tested. There are too many diseases out there. I definitely wouldn't put my health on the line because of some indiscretion on his part.

If I found out my guy had paid for sex, the issue would be way more than just a "cheating" thing.

Even if you have a GREAT sex life, guys ( and girls ) may cheat.
People get horny. And Drunk.

Going to a Hooker is something that involves a little 'planning'..so that is what pisses me off.

Unfortunately, lapses of judgment can happen, but if I had to really deal with this matter, I don't know that I would feel so liberal about it.

In fact..If he's messing around with ANYONE else WHILE I'm sleeping with him ( ?? Why?? ) - then he better come to bed in one of those BioHazard Suits.

And it better be padded well, cauuse I would probably want to kick his ass.

Honestly, I thought I had a better idea of how I would feel, but as I type this more "what-ifs" are coming to mind..

Most guys have been to some form of prostitute whether it's for a bj or a rub-n-tug handy to straight up sex, it has happened. Those that say different would be lying.
I have gotten the occasional bj and once went to a "massage" place. That's about it.
I could see how this would be a problem during a relationship but not before one is in place.

That is exactly how I look at them. I would even venture to say that probably 1/2 of them are infected with some sort of disease - including aids. Most of them are drug users. Do you really think they care enough to use rubbers all of the time? They don't care about their own lives why would they care about yours? I truly feel that when they are arrested they should be tested for aids, and if they are positive, and caught again prostituting, they should be charged with attempted murder.

FINALLY a thread I can respond
to!

My freshman year of college, my
roommate was this country kid
from smalltownNH (I went to
school in Boston) who had never
been to the city. He used to brag

From studies that I have read, most women go into prostitution because they are runaways (usually from families of physical/sexual abuse), drug addicts, and some are from other countries that are brought in illegally, and are usually lied to, and told they are being brought here for citizenship or that they are going to get other types of jobs.

I would have to say, these are generally unhappy women who are inclined (and in some cases forced) to go into prostitution because they feel it is their only way to survive. Again, a lot of them are drug addicted (either became that way because of prostitution or were that way and went into prostitution for the money for the drugs and are unable to hold any other type of job). I don't think anybody would be happy in a job were their lives are on the line on a daily basis, who are demeaned, and in some cases beaten and raped.

I truly feel that our society should do more to help these women, and they should do something also to help themselves. These women generally have multiple levels of problems - physical, mental, addicted, etc.

For men to say women go into prostitution because they "like" sex is a total misnomer.

I also think that men who frequent these women are out of their minds.

This issue is not limited to prostitution nor is it exclusively a female or male issue.

The central two issues are what having sex with an outside partner means to the relationship and the very real possibilities of your own health being threatened by STD's.

1. Although not true in every case, as a general rule, people seek seek outside of their relationship b/c they are not happy with some aspect of the relationship. If your partner (male or female) cheats on you, it's usually a very good indication that there's something wrong.

Whether you can or should forgive him or her is another issue which I will not address here, as there are way too many variables.

2. More prostitutes than the general population has some form of STDs. But HIV can come from ANY source, prostitute, or the prim and proper guy or girl down the block. For purposes of std's, when you have sex with someone you're having sex with everyone they've had sex with.

The MAJORITY of Americans has herpes and/or HPV. HPV can be "caught" (albiet not commonly) even with proper condom use as the sores are not limited to the immediate genital area.

A condom is the most effective method of std prevention and is effective about 98% of the time. Those are damn good odds, but not perfect odds.

I would very strongly recomend that if a spouse or bf or gf cheated on you with ANYONE, you insist they get checked for STD's. That's the start. Where the relationship goes from there is something that must be carefully considered in all aspects.
