Hmmm..let's see:
Charley Winner
Lou Holtz
Joe Walton
Rich Kotite
Pete Carroll
Bill Belicek
Al Groh
and now, Herm "Clueless" Edwards
And that's just the Head Coaches.
I can sum up the awful players with one name: Blair Thomas.
Come back, Joe Willie and Weeb!

You know somethings wrong with the "team" when it's more funner to be in the stands than to watch the game.

herm edwards isn't the problem! edwards is a fantastic coach. the problem is this:

the west coast offense is a mobile offense created to find seams in zone defenses and to over tax man to man defenses with a spread out "scattered attack" it requires multiple weapons, primarily a multi-purpose runningback (ie: roger craig), sure handed receivers (jerry rice) and a mobile quarterback (steve young). it also requires an offensive line. the Jets have neither a mobile quarterback or an offensive line. the line isn't holding up because they lost their line coach. their' qb isn't holding up because he's 38 and even when he was young he wasn't made for that kind of offense.

with the offense anemic. the defense is always on the field, no wonder by the 2nd half they are ready to pass out.

fix the offense and the defense will follow. but don't blame the one bright spot for the jets

Why is he a fantastic coach? He may have been a competent assistant but as a head coach he's a disaster. You mention the "West Coast Offense". If it's not a good fit for the Jets why do they implement it?
Hackett is a horrible Offensive Coordinator, Herm has to take the heat.
Herm has been called a "Defensive Guru". Well, the defense stinks. Talented players on the D (Abraham, Ellis and the LB's) are UNDERACHIEVING. That's the coaches fault. We had our "shot" with Parcells, now we must rebuild..AGAIN!

Wasn't Edwards a defensive coach? 20 games into his career as Jet H.C and he still hasn't figured out how to stop the run. I am a Vinny fan, but he always throws int. when he throws to his left. Why am I the only one picking this up? He can't throw across his body! I am 30 and my best Jet moment was halftime of the AFC Championship game in Denver. Fuckin Pathetic. I hope Tom Brady gives Belicheck herpes.

I'm still lamenting the firings of Walt Michaels & Bruce Coslet, so Rex can talk all the shit he wants as long as the team is competitive.

Back then, an 8-8 mark was considered a great success so I'm thoroughly enjoying the way things have been the past few years.

My first game at Shea, it was freezing and precipitation consisting of wet snow. The Jets were leading late against Buffalo, but Joe Ferguson threw a TD pass with 6 seconds left to lift the Bills. That was a sign of things to come.

I hate lamenting on the negative, but it comes with the territory. Here are some assorted memories that will sting for us:

*Bill Simpson's late INT
*56-3 (who else remembers that final score?)
*"Todd is God" homemade banners at Shea
*Scott Zolak's hero moment at Foxboro
*Browning Nagle (fill in your favorite infamous incident here______, starting with the fumbled snap in the 1992 season opener at Atlanta)
*Everything that happened in the 1998 AFC Championship Game after Blake Spence's blocked punt/TD
*Jeff Blake's success in Cincy
*Garrison Hearst's OT sprint
*Pat Leahy's missed FG in OT at Chicago on a:thumbup: Monday night
*Blair Thomas's fumble in the same game
*Terrence Mathis being an inch too short to corral a Hail Mary pass from Ken O'Brien's in the 1991 Wild Card game at Houston (17-10 loss)
*All that went wrong before Marino's fake spike (a 21-point lead wasn't lost on that one play)
*Mike Haight
*"The Penalty Pals"
*Dave Krieg stepping up in the pocket

Obviously, that last one had greater ramifications than all of the others combined.

What they need is a top tier running back. Greene is a good back, but if the jets are serious about ground and pound, Greene is not going to cut it.

Some talent on the right side of the OL and maybe a pass rushing OLB would be nice too.

I'd take an injured thirty-five year old Garrard over Sanchez, McElroy or Quinn.

I'd rather Matt Cassel.

I would deal Revis to SF for picks or picks and LaMichael James. Jets apparently want to pair someone with Bilal Powell. James would be a good compliment, in that he is speedy. Powell would be more the power back. But I agree with Craig Carton today, in that the new GM better not be hoping for a 4-12 season, just so he can fire the coach and gut the team. I'd hate to deal Revis, but if we can get multiple picks, you do it. SF has a ton, and I think they'd give them up for Revis.

i just read that the jets have 16.25 mill locked up in QBs this season. Thats just over 14% of the salary cap and that only includes Sanchez, Tebow, and McIllroy. maybe just leave in sanchez for 1 more year and draft someone? I dont see how you could be only 5 mill under the cap after cutting half your team, and still be wanting to spend even 1 dollar on QBs

I wish they could just dump Sanchez and Tebow and go with McElroy. I don't think he's the answer, but he scored a 43 on the Wonderlic test, which makes him Big Bang Theory smart. Give him time, and he will improve to the point where he's not awful.

Meanwhile, take all that extra money and get a premium running back and ROG. I even ok with dishing Revis. Cromartie is a step down, but if we can get a 1st and 3rd for Revis, it's worth it.

vince young got a 6 on the wonderlic test and I would start him over McElroy. that shit doesnt matter. I knew dudes that were completely retarded who would perfectly understand anything having to do with reading a defense. You dont have to be book smart to be football smart, and in turn, you arent necessarily football smart if you are book smart.

If I was the jets, I would trade revis for draft picks, even if its some shitty 3rd round pick, and just roll this season with sanchez and whoever else and just let all the money come off and start over in 2014

there is no extra money. When you cut a guy in the NFL, the prorated bonuses and shit hit the cap. Sanchez has a 13 mill cap hit but if you cut him, he still hits this years cap for almost 12 million and then you would still need to pay someone else to be a QB even if its a backup. You might as well just can this next year and take the high draft pick
