i don't think it would have changed anything.. the following of star wars is just fenominal so the money would have been there no matter what..
i personally like the first ones being done...

I think Lucas should have just made an open call and let other directors and filmmakers make some Star Wars films, that are set in the same universe, but don't have to revolve around the same damn characters. Can you imagine someone like Tarantino, Spielberg, the Coen Brothers, or even Robert Altman doing a Star Wars film? THAT would have been interesting...

I don't think he could have gotten Harrison Ford to do any of the Heir to the Empire Movies. And w/o him I couldn't accept someone else as Han Solo.
Steven Spielberg wanted to direct a Star Wars movie. Lucas said no. He considers them his movies.
I think they should do a series..like Enterprise.

How about Spike Lee? Then he could have killed all the white people, and people still would have loved it.

But the Zahn books are mediocre and cliched themselves. They wouldn't make good movies.

He should have left well enough alone and not come out with anything with the name Star Wars on it.
Dump that money spent on the others to make a whole new era of movies that rocked as much as the first three.

Jon, that's mostly true. Dark Force Rising I thought was particularly tedious. But Lucas gave his blessing on them. I think that maybe if you rolled all three books into one movie, and get the original cast together, that might work.

You also have to remember that Lucas didn't write the Zahn Trilogy. I think Episodes 6 through 9 would have been his own story.
