ECW MAY COME BACK!

Vince McMahon is seriously looking to bring the ECW brand to late-night television. WWE is currently trying to buy all the ECW footage in bankruptcy court, and if they can get a good share, they may run ECW as its own brand of wrestling (under WWE's corporate banner).

Vince feels that ratings are not down due to the lack of star power, but simply due to the roster split and its failure.

Vince said that WWE is not interested in working with NWA:TNA at this time. He feels that they have helped too many other young federations gain popularity, and with the current slump WWE is in, it is not the right time to help anyone.

i dont know if vince'll wanna pay all of ECW's old debts..

plus it wouldnt be the same, at least wouldnt have the old anti-establishment flavor ECW had..

Another point, ECW had a lot of good guys at the top of their games, or with one last run left in them.
What would the new ECW be like without sandman, sabu, balls, etc. itd just be OVW with a different name

Don't get your hopes up.

With the company already spread thin, the last thing Vince needs is to create another "brand". I doubt that would be his intention, however; the real reason to "own" what's left of ECW is to get all of that file footage. From a business perspective, it's genius, because he would control the film library for the three largest wrestling promotions of the past 10 years. If he'd be planning anything, it would be to run the old footage as some sort of late-night program.

I honestly don't see the fascination with ECW, but whatever. It's not as if it's THAT profitable of a brand name anyway. ECW, like WCW, is dead and buried, and it has even less of a chance of reviving than WCW (which, logically, could and possibly should rise from the grave now that the split is in effect and Bischoff is GM of RAW).

Of course, all of this exposition is taking away from the real message behind this news: Vince still has his head up his ass.

The ratings are down because the product is TIRED. The split was an attempt to liven things up, but things were mundane before the break. Instead of fooling with defunct organizations, they need to completely change the style & attitude of the product if they want to make some sort of positive change.

Like I said before, I really doubt that "ECW" would be brought back but if Vince did own the rights to the ECW video library I think it would be a great idea to run a late Saturday night/early Sunday "Best-of" ECW show. I need something to watch after SNL anyway.

I honestly don't see the fascination anyone could have with the WWE. wee wee wee boring. I get more entertainment and excitement out of my old ECW PPV and TV tapes that i've seen countless times than i do out of new Raw's, Smackdown's and WWE PPV's. the current state of the WWE is tired and boring. <P>

With the decision that the WWE has made recently, I won't believe it till the first show airs.

- Hogan gets signed...
- Hogan returns to TV....
- Hogan goes back to Red & Yellow....
- HOGAN WINS THE FUCKING TITLE?!?!?!?!?!
- Roster split...
- Roster trades/jumps that end feuds that could have continued to entertain if the writers could come up with a decent twist...
- Bring back Vince Russo, but don't use any of his ideas, and he quits....
- Good Ole' JR continues to announce Raw & PPV's, but hasn't announced a single match in 2 years where he hasn't mumbled like a stuttering prick &/or called wrestlers by the wrong name (or, my favorite, making a decent point about a match or move, but attributing it to the wrong wrestler in the match)...
- Scott Hall fired for being rowdy, but XPac continues to have a job (OK...so they eventually took care of this one)....
- DX returns....for exactly 47 seconds.....
