this came up in conversation last nite, and i'd like to know if you would/wouldn't date board members and why

i'm not totally against it, but i've had a few bad experiences ((and some really awesome experiences)) which have made me a bit cautious on the subject.

a lot of us have met eachother and hang out a lot.

as everyone said just keep it on the DL, dont bring all your shit to the board. nothing is wrong with meeting someone at an event and really clickin, thats how people start going out. its really no different then just going to a bar and meeting someone. but just make sure you keep your real life and your board life very seperate from eachother.

I think it would be silly to cut off an option for such a silly reason as meeting them on the board. And this board is different then your typical message board/chat room because most of us live in the same area and hang out alot together so it's not just like meeting a random stranger.

Well as far as Drama... there is Drama in ANY relationship. So to say there is more here on the board is not true. it just would manifest it's ugly head here on the board. If you date someone at work it happens there. Or if it is at your regular bar. The question I guess you need to ask yourself is can both people be adults about treating each in the enviormient... like the board. No one can ever predict how a relationship will grow or end. So you can go for it and take the chance or you can never take the chance and have safety in the enviorment you socialize. Me... I will always take a chance.. that is just me though. Can't speek for ohers.

Why would you wanna date someone who was boring?

I'm an administrator and co-owner of a place very similar to this one, and very recently broke up with a girl who I had met there.

I'm not saying I'd never do it again. What I am saying is that there are several girls I'm *talking* to at the moment, one of which I also met from my forum, and I am definitely a little leary of going down that road again.

It's hard, you want to be candid on these boards, but feel funny in saying things that might offend your significant other.

You also want to be able to flirt and cut loose, but even that can be somewhat wierd.

Not to mention how arkward it can be if things go wrong. In real life, when you break up with somebody, MAYBE you see them once in a while at a party or the grocery store. But online, they're there EVERY day. Talking about their life... a life that no longer includes you.

And likewise, you feel funny sharing any new romances or good things that are going on, for fear of being hurtful or looking like an asshole.

If it feels right, I say one should go with it, but just know that it comes with certain sacrifices.

I think the only thing more annoying than dating board members is ultra-long scroll sigs.
