Man oh man. The Gremlin X, the original X-treme car. The Eagle, the original sport utility wagon (despite what subaru claims.) AMC all the way baby!
Sorry, I'll sit down now.

I used to have an old girlfriend who's father had bought a brand new Matador. It was ugly then and is still ugly now.So much for futuristic body lines.

There was an AMC model called a Rambler American(early to mid 60's).Very popular for dating. The front seats folded back flush with the back seat cushion. This created a "whole car" mattress effect.

My parents had an AMC Hornet wagon when I was a wee tyke. We drove to Florida from Jersey with no seat belts and my sister and I sitting in the back cargo area. Faux wood paneling? ALWAYS classy.

When I was a kid my parents had a Rambler. I don't remember much about it, other than I broke my nose when it got totaled in an accident.

Mom had a green Hornet (get it?). I remember we could take the key out of the ignition even when the car was turned on.

YES! And the horn was along the inner rim of the steering wheel. I remember my dad proudly daring anyone to figure out how to beep the horn.

We had the faux wood paneling on the Town and Country Station Wagon. Seat belts? Nah. I remember the rear view mirror had a crack in it from when my brother flew into it after my Mom stopped the car short to avoid an accident.

I had a buddy whose parents practically operated an Eagle graveyard to keep one running. Seemed like it was easy enough to work on, and I loved riding in it. Good memories.

My next door neighbor when I was a kid had an AMC Gremlin Levi's edition. The entire car was upholstered in denim, and there were pockets like on the ass of your jeans on the inside of the doors.
Fuck. I forgot all about that.
