I was watching this cartoon again, and I just realized: There's ghosts on it!

So does that mean it's SUPPOSED to be scary? Cause it's NOT! It's hardly entertaining.

I mean, the idea of Freddy Prinz Jr. as Fred is TERRIFYING, but the cartoon is just kinda gay, even next to the rest of the gay 70's cartoons.

Now I grew up with it like so many others, so I have a right to trash it! Anyone else?

It beat watching the paint dry. I enjoyed the whole mystery aspect of it, but they weren't too hard to figure out.

It's kiddie scary. If you're an adult, it looks lame and ridiculous. If you're a small child, there are certain things about Scooby Doo that could frighten you. For example, the whole thing when a villain lifts a mask off his face to reveal who he really is. That can be frightening to a 5 year old. Scooby Doo was always one of my favorite cartoons and always will be. It's stupid and predictable, but there's something very sweet and innocent about it. And, Moe, if you don't find it entertaining, then why are you sitting around watching it? Because it reminds you of childhood, and of the silly things you were into when you were a kid. That's why I watch it. That, and I always had a crush on Shaggy.

The only time it was scary was when you'd get an epsiode with Scrappy Doo. I hated him.

DMM, anything with Casey Kasem is scary. The man is evil personified.

Scooby Doo was one of the first to do the celebrity cameo thing. Mama Cass must have been an awfully good sport to do hers. They had a few "grooy" 70's celebrities, but my coffee's wearing off and I can't think of any more.

The ghost or monster every time turned out to be someone in a disguise, so why were they always scared? <P>

Having a four year old, I have had to suffer through Scooby Doo again now and all I can is guess that the writers and animators were either very busy or always drunk (like Staples) because both the plot and the animation totally suck.

Other "notable?" people who guest starred:

Don Adams
Tim Conway
Phyllis Diller
The Harlem Globetrotters
Davy Jones
Don Knotts
Sonny & Cher
The Three Stooges
Jonathan Winters

Scooby Doo makes a lot more sense if you watch it stoned.
