Every year my Italian teacher brings anyone who wants to go to Italy for 10 days at the end of the school year(beginning of summer.) Everybody pays for themselves and altogether each person pays about $3000 for airfare, shopping, and lunch(breakfast/dinner are payed for) I know you're thinking already that its gay cuz theres gonna be a teacher but it's cool cuz my Italian teacher is 28 and she's cool. She said she'll bring us to clubs and if we want to chill out and wander the streets till 3 AM it's all good. There's two things that are affecting my decision to go though...
1)My best friend doesn't want to go and my other best friend goes to another school.
2)It's not that my parents won't let me go, it's that im "poor" and i dont think they want to pay 3000 bucks for me to go to Italy. But I havent asked them yet so who know's.
What do you guys think, should I beg my parents for the money to go EVEN though my best friend's arent gonna be there with me? What would you guys do if you were in my position?

I say go for it.
I was supposed to go to Italy last year but the trip was postponed after 11 September and was rescheduled for next month. Unfortunately I can't go because of schedule conflicts.
You should take advantage of the opportunity while you have the chance. Maybe you could convince your parents to at least chip in for a portion of the fare and save/work for the rest yourself?
Even if your friends don't come along with you, you can do some exploring on your own and at your own pace.
Good luck!

I say go on your own, say, after you graduate. I spent five weeks in Europe and went to England, France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland, and my trip cost me about $2,000. You get a rail pass, stay at youth hostels, and you do whatever you want and go wherever you want. You'll also be meeting more people from all over the world, which you won't be doing so much with a class trip. Either way, I definitely suggest you make a trip.

Let me tell you something, Junior, take this trip. I took one my Junior year, Paris and Rome - 10 days, and it still remains one of the greatest times of my life. Like you, I came from a low cash home, but I got a job solely to pay for this trip. Let me tell you it was worth every penny. You say your teacher will be cool and give you some freedom, even better. I'll not bore you with the details, but the chaperones we went with were, for various resons, unable to fulfill their duties so we went buck wild. Don't worry about your friend going or not going. I was a total loser in high school, unlike now, but I made friends with everyone on the trip. Trust me, once you get into the second or third day, all that high school, clique bullshit goes out the window. You should really do this, you will not be sorry.

My Mom was cool. She saved money every year so that we could go on trips like this with my High School 3 out of the 4 years I was there. Italy was one of the trips. Sure gonig with your Mom isn't PARTY time, but I had a good time. I say go.
It expands your horizons, and you begi to love the US even more when you go out of the country.

I wouldn't go alone. Sightseeing sucks if you don't have anyone to share it with. I went to Amsterdam for a week after college. If you are going to make the flight to Europe, you should try to include Amsterdam in your plans.
