I have a very old Batman comic book from the 50's.
I have no idea what it's worth.
I also have the special "Betty and Veronica Lesbian Issue".

The only comic books I ever bought was when I heard they were going to kill off Superman...I bought that whole series...would anyone know if they're worth anything? I doubt it, but just curious.

Heckler, what happened to Sgt. Rock is what happens to every character with low sales. Their books get taken off the new market cause their is no market for it anymore. The new comics trend is paid for hire assassins. Deadpool was first(with the mini-series in '93) and those sold incredibly well until demand for a single series in 98 followed by Maverick in 98 helped start a trend that is out still happening. The newest assassin book is going to be ELEKTRA. Marvel's female ninja assassin from early 1980's Daredevil. Awesome DD book is #181, the murder of Elektra by Bullseye. Anyone know the story why DarkHorse stopped making Aliens & Predator books? There still is a big market for those, but they disappeared. Remember people, Marvel did away with the comics code so now they will be doing more "Creator Owned" stories & just some twisted stuff, especially with Wolverine(many screwed up possibilities in that series).

And whatever happened to "Supergirl?"

The original supergirl died in 1986 fighting the anti-monitor. Lots of other people did too including the most commonly known Flash, Barry Allen and Earth-2. Thats right folks, Earth-2 was destroyed. Earth-1 was destroyed too.

There is of course a new Supergirl who last I checked was a shape shifting alien who later found out she was also an earth-born angel.

Then some stuff happened and I don't know what's up.

I dunno, I don't generally read Supergirl and the last time I picked up an issue was the "Day of Judgement" tie-in last year.

CRICKETT - Supergirl dead! Flash too! Say it aint so.

At least we have earth-2 the TV series. Come to think of it that was canceled after about 15 episiodes.

I confess you've got be completely confused. Supergirl is not from Krypton, but rather an earth born angel? WTF???

Whatever happened to Batman and Superman crossovers? Gold and rainbow kryptonite? Do comics still cost a dime?

Profile of Supergirl from dccomics.com.

"An artificial being created in a pocket universe, Supergirl came to our world and was raised by the Kents until setting out on her own. It was when she came upon the dying Linda Danvers that her life changed dramatically. Linda had been injured in a cult ritual, and having sworn an oath to Linda's parents that she would save their daughter, Supergirl sacrificed herself by merging her protoplasmic body with Linda's.

The blending created a new and unusual entity. However, for Linda Danvers, who had fallen far from grace, it was an entrance into a world seen through the eyes of a being who only looks for the best in others. For Supergirl, it was a connection to humanity and the granting of a human soul - albeit a dark and flawed spirit which she was able to redeem through great effort.

Together, they are a new and powerful incarnation that is, quite simply, an earth-born angel. An angel on earth with wings of flame, serving to protect the interests of both mankind and God."

Now mind you, this has become outdated as of Supergirl #51.

I did some looking and apparently, Linda Danvers and "Matrix" split back into two different beings. Linda Danvers (believed dead and with conderably less power than before) is now on a quest to find "Matrix".

Barry Allen and the Kryptonian Supergirl are both very much dead. Earth-2 was destroyed, but it has been brought back for whatever reason.

Your average Detective comics comic costs $2.25 and they are 32 pages long.

Extra-large issues (48 pages) costs $3.95

Prestige format comics usually cost between $5 - $7.

Trade Paperback comics (collection of issues put into a book) are usually, well, it depends how much is put into the book.

1. Looking at those prices I can only say - "Holy shit, Batman!"

2. Has anyone ever tried to pick up this new Supergirl by asking her if it hurt? She'd reply what? And the guy says, "when you fell from heaven."

I love the basic titles (X-men, spawn, gambit, deadpool)

I've been sleeping on the lesser known titles, though (like Transmetropolitan) and a good comic book is hard to find in my neighborhood.

I think there's a lot of crap on the market today. The X-books have become unreadable. Anything Image "inspired" is drek that has impossible looking people with bad writing.

Sandman was incredible with Gaiman writing, but the tie-ins are eh.

Marvel's Ultimate line is so fucking incredibly good! Why are you not reading it?

100 Bullets rocks. Hadn't heard about the tv series.

Kevin Smith's Green Arrow has been really good.

Legion of Superheroes got good again after it let off in quality for a while.

That's all I can think of right now, but I know there are other good titles I read.

Iron Man comics are still being made by Marvel. If you want a good one, I suggest the Iron Man trade paperback "Mask in the Iron Man". (warning: this is a collection of comics and as such, costs $15)

Right now, Tony Stark gave up his fortune in favor of the everyday life of a computer programmer. He's still Iron Man though.

The X-books?

New X-Men = sucks
Uncanny X-Men = sucks
X-Force = the suckiest book marvel is publishing right now.
X-treme X-Men = despite the name, it's by far the best X-book out there right now.

Ultimate Marvel?

OH NO, NOT ANOTHER F***ING ATTEMPT AT A RELAUNCH!!!!!

Thats what I think about Ultimate Marvel.

Green Arrow?

It's kept me on the edge of my toes waiting to see what happens. I think Kevin Smith doesn't know shit about the JLA as seen in Green Arrow #4.

I try to avoid the Legion of Super Heroes.

A good comic book I try not to avoid is JSA.
