I was listening to some CDs today when I realized just how many great albums came out that year (in no particular order of preference):

"Sticky Fingers", The Rolling Stones
"At Fillmore East", The Allman Brothers Band
"Untitled/Led Zeppelin IV/Symbols, etc.", Led Zeppelin
"Who's Next", The Who
"What's Going On", Marvin Gaye
"Every Picture Tells A Story", Rod Stewart
"Imagine", John Lennon
"Tapestry", Carole King
"Surf's Up", The Beach Boys
"Shaft (soundtrack)", Issac Hayes

Name some other years that saw the release of a lot of great albums.
