View Full Version : I want to expand my taste in music...

I am not the kind of person that listens to just one type of music...I enjoy almost everything, yes, even certain country music. But I would say rap and hip hop is the majority of what I listen to. I love it, but I want to start listening to different types of music more often. My sister made me a mix of some bands like Korn, A Perfect Circle, Godsmack and bands like that and I listen to it all the time, I just don't know what else to listen to. So that's where you guys come in. I need suggestions. What is your favorite type of music? Any albums you highly recommend? Let me know! Thanks :)
Let's Roll!

You are in texas, enjoy some local flavor . . .
Steve Earle: "I Feel Alright" "El Corazon" "Trandscendental Blues" "Side tracks" . . . hell, anything he's ever did. He is the finest songwriter alive today.
Townes van Zant: "the Late Great Townes van Zant" dirty, half-dead folkblues
Joe Ely, Robert Earle Keen, Ryan Adams, and of course, KINKY FRIEDMAN AND THE TEXAS JEWBOYS :)

I also listen to ICP, Twiztid, Pink, Bob Marley, to name a few.

Nicely put Fluffernutter and Todd EVF.
And Knowledged one, that's what people said about crap like Korn, SOAD and Slipknot. Now even though I'm not a huge fan of any of that stuff, it shows that people are ready for Heavier music. And GOOD Death Metal is about the hardest shit I've ever heard.
Now EVERYONE must remember that like every type of music, there IS BAD DEATH METAL. And just cause you heard a guy growling over bad music DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE AN EXPERT ON DEATH METAL. There is A LOT of bands that I HATE in this genere too, some I've played with more than once.
I say give one of the albums on Fluffernutter's list a try, and get back to us. Or go to my site and download "Solitude". Or if that Battle of the Bnads area is still up on THIS site, just get it from there. We have 2 songs up, but "Soitude" is a more controlled one to start with.
