I'm sorry for the crap post but i need somewhere to vent, I've recently ordered a new computer and I've just about reached my limit as far as what I can deal with.

I financed a Compaq presario, which has been a headache since the first day I spoke to them, it has been over three weeks now and the computer still isnt here, i've been patient as possible with these people but it seems like every time I call there's a different answer and to top it all off, it finally shipped yesterday, and when I asked the Customer service Rep if she had Fed-Ex's number she gave me a 800 number that proceeded to ask me if I was horny. Goddammit, I'm gonna jump into a river.

I went to circuit city and picked out what I wanted.
They loaded it into my truck.
After the rebates , it was a great deal. I'm very satisfied with it(hp).

Personally, I hate to say it but I think your headaches are far from over. Compaq's are like the least reliable computer ever. Anyone I've ever known to have one has had NOTHING but trouble with it in terms of connectivity with new devices and with the fact that it crashes every 15 minutes. Sorry cheif!

Just do what I do, build your own. 1000X better then any Compaq.

I'm very partial to Dell. I've bought 3 systems from them.

Any problem was immediately fixed (for example a monitor that blew about 2 1/2 years after I got the machine was replaced completely free and without any hassle).

If you can't build one yourself go with DELL and save the headaches...

I work for P. C. Richards I fix all the PC's.. Sometime these Proprietor systems IE. COMPAq, HP, Sony, IBM, ETC drive me crazy with their designs... The thing with COMPAQ is that they sell the most units that is why you find more people with problems with them... Most of the components(HArd Drive, Floppy, Cd/DVD drives) used by these companies are mostly from the same companies...

DELL does have the best customer support and have had that distinction for many years now.

I listen to much less WNEW than I used to!!!!

going through a major company is always bad. they jerk you around and stuff. By me there is a place called "Duo Computers" they built my T-Bird for about 800 bux. and i love it so much. AMD kicks ass

I do work on just about all major name systems where I work. I've had problems with Dell, Compaq, IBM, you name it. We use mostly Dells and Compaqs here, and I've had more trouble with Dell's customer support. IBM has VERY GOOD support for their Thinkpads. Usually a 2 day turnaround. The biggest problem I've had with Compaq is their shipping delays for replacement parts and repair work. We recently put in about 15 Dell Workstations and at least 10 of them had to be repaired out-of-the-box.

I've never dealt with Dell for personal machines, but they don't get my vote for business.

Sorry to bring this up to the top again but Holy Shit!

Personally, I hate to say it but I think your headaches are far from over. Compaq's are like the least reliable computer ever.

More than right, when the computer finally came in I had no cables or documentation for the video card and When i did get it running i discovered it had a bad motherboard, so I sent it back and i'm building my own, so i just wanted to say thanks to the people who tried to help me out.

Impact, are you getting any sort of money/gift certificate besides the refund? WIth that sort of shoddy service and treatment by customer service, they should at least give you a coupon or at least really apologize about what happened...but basically, you should get something free out of the deal. Did you get anything like that?
