This summer, I've seen solo sets by Evan Dando, J. Mascis and Paul Westerberg, former frontmen of The Lemonheads, Dinosaur Jr. and The Replacements, respectively. The shows were great, but at the end, I just felt very sad. All three are some of the greatest indie rock songwriters and singers of the last 20 years, and each came so damn close to greatness, just to have it slip away. It's a cryin' shame.

i saw Slash's Snakepit in 95 at Irving plaza in nYC. it was so sad, because GNR ruled the planet at one time. Here was a half empty club where one of the greatest guitarists from one of the greatest bands was playing.
before the KISS reunion, I used to see Ace Frehley all the time at Lamours in Brooklyn. As much as he kicked ass, it was sad that he was so drunk and low.

that happens to me a lot but generally not for the same reason... when it's a really great concert, i get so excited and there's so much anticipation that, when i'm actually there, i sometimes get really depressed. and sometimes it's just too good, or too beautiful. i dont know, i get sad a lot

sheepy would probably blame it on the sad rock...
