Don & Mike: 'We Struck A Deal With The Devil'

That's how Don Geronimo described to listeners yesterday the new one-year contract with Infinity he and partner Mike O'Meara signed for their return to afternoons, with O'Meara joking, "No matter where you work, suits are suits." Commenting on the negotiations, Geronimo noted that while they worked with some new people at Infinity this time around, he says "I'm sure in growing weeks, months and maybe years to come, we will learn to resent them and hate them." And they couldn't resist a free shot at former rivals Opie & Anthony: "If there was ever a sign that there is a God, it happened," said Geronimo, who collectively referred to the departure of O&A - as well as the suspensions of WJFK-FM/Washington and WNEW/New York VP/GM Ken Stevens and WNEW PD Jeremy Coleman - as "one blow, four heads - four heads in a duffel bag." Geronimo then added, "This is better than any ratings book we've ever had. This is sweeter."

By the way, if you had a choice, which would you listen to; Leykis or D&M? You'll definitely have plenty of time to listen to Leykis and formulate your own opinion about him (hint: I lived in L.A., and he doesn't grow on you)

I never liked Don and Mike. Others apparently do, as they are popular among some people in various markets.

That notwithstanding the interview cited above shows that they are nothing less than complete dicks.

They could learn a lot from Ron and Fez who always act in a genteel fashion towards all competition even when some do not return this courtesy.

This is what I think is happening. Infinity is purposely trying to tank WNEW's ratings. With O & A gone, I think they gave up on the "Extreme Talk" format. The fired Ferrall, who was starting to gain a following, moved Ron & Fez to Mid-Days, were they will get much lower ratings, and brought in Leykis, who has proven that he cannot capture a New York audience. After a few months of hideous ratings, they will have thier excuse to change formats, and cash in on that huge Country demographic.

Might I remind you of various things:

1. OA continued the inside jokes (often through Norton) against Don and Mike. They continued to make fun of Don's wife, Frita, and Bart, his son, indirectly. Acting childish?
2. Don and Mike try to combat it by being creative. They make Friends of Nice Ass, FONA. Opie and Anthony FLIP OUT on the air about it, bitching about it even though DM are just an 'inferior' show.

That rally was not affiliated with Don and Mike. People from radiogodsforum.com led it, and about twenty or so people came. It was spur of the moment, and wasn't even a rally.

And now they take a shot at them!! I used to listen to them and when they were misrepresenting what happened here in NY I called them on it. They told me not to listen to their show any more. If they come back to NY I will do as they asked and not listen.

The easiest and most effective way to handle the WNEW situation is after 2pm don't listen. I haven't put mu radio on after 2 since Ron and Fez were given middays permanently. Hit them in the ratings book which will keep them out of our collective hair. I am a born again Christian but if O and A getting fired is a sign from god I may become a buddhist.

The O and A army is Legion....for WE...ARE... MANY.
