I remember on Sept 11th, I had the day off from work. I was watching TV and listening to then the Sports Guys, and on the sports guys I heard their producer Olive mention that a plane crash into one the towers. Then I change to one of the news channels and saw smoke coming from the biulding and spent the rest of the day watching the horror unfold. I think the only way I was able to get though that day was listening to Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez talking about what happen.

On the morning of Sept 11th, I was sleeping late, skipping Organic Chemistry because I was out late the night before.

I went into the city (I live in Essex County, Jersey) the night before, took the scenic route & drove right by the towers and eventually wound up at Yankee Stadium for the Yanks/Red Sox game that Monday.

The game was a rainout, but it wasn't officially called off until the normal time of first pitch. I ran into a high school friend & we went back & forth from Billy's to Stan's until closing.

Tuesday morning I was waken by a call from my dad, all I could understand was the Italian curses, but when he calmed down & started speaking English he said "We're under attack from those fuckin......", etc. derrogatory arab names.

I turned on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit Tower 1 live on the news.

The thing I will never forget is hearing my father say "We're under attack". When I turned on the television I fully expected to see another situation like the USS Cole or a foreign base being attacked or something.
The feeling that will stick with me forever is the feeling of uneasiness that we were being hit on our own soil.

Just typing this is bringing back the rage I felt then and continue to have bubbling under the surface ever since. I need to go punch a wall....

...silent, but violent.

I was driving to work as The Sports Guys (SPOTS GUYS!!!!) said that a small plane had accidentally hit one of the WTC towers. Against my better judgement, I switched to Stern(who sucks cocks) to hear if it was true, but he didn't change issues for it yet.

So I got to the house I was helping remodle, and switched on the TV. Me, the boss and his brother sat there in amazment as the 1st tower burned. Then, they went outside for a minute, and I sat in horror as the 2nd plane hit. I called them back in, and that ws about it. He said wrap up and get home. He was afraid that it would become a nationwide emergency/riot, and wanted to get home to protect his family. I wasn't scared of that, but I agreed that it was NOT a day to work on.

I spent the rest of the day glued to the TV. My parents got home regular time, and I updated them as much as I could, but I really didn't need to. They stations were rereuning the crash every few seconds.

The utter horror never leaves my memories.......

I was sleeping in my dorm room when the phone rang and woke me up. It was my mother telling me we were under attack but she didn't know from whom. I turned on the TV and saw both towers engulfed in flames, the rest is history.

I woke up earlier than my alarm was supposed to go off because I was tossing and turning, turned on my television and the first thing I see on NBC is smoke coming from the WTC. I'm like what the fuck!? and call my family asking them if they heard what happened and immediately went online to talk to my friends and check to see how my school was going to handle the class schedule for that day and the coming week. I was just in shock, glued to the news all day, and I'm not a person that criess really at all but I cried like a baby when those towers came down.

I love my sig.

I was working 2 blocks away, and saw and heard pretty much everything. Probably the most disturbing thing was hearing everyone screaming as the first tower fell, and then looking down the street and seeing crushed police and fire rescue vehicles covered in debris and ash. When the smoke finally crept into my building and the main power went out, I thought it was the end.

I was at my other office about to go to my main office in the Pentagon. Someone told me about the plane crash into the tower and we switched to CNN in our office.

My first thought was of my brother who works on Wall Street. His PATH train stop was at WTC and he usually went to his office there first thing in the morning.

I tried to call home to CT to see if my parents had heard from him. Unfortunately, they were moving into a new place that morning so, having no TV, they were surprised when I told them what had happened.

I can't remember which happened first: the second plane attack or the Pentagon attack but I tried to call home to let my parents know that I was OK. We were hearing all kinds of rumors down here: more planes were coming to hit the White House and the Capitol and that there were car bombs at the State Department and other government buildings.

If I remember right, both of the towers fell before I could get a line out to call home and check on my brother and tell my family that I was OK. For as long as live I will never forget hearing my mom sobbing on the phone because she thought my brother died in NY and that I died at the Pentagon. My brother was evacuated to another building but had I been at the Pentagon, I would have been extremely close to the area of impact.

Long story short: my brother and I were very lucky that day.

Listening to Howard Stern, he said something happened to the trade center and its on the news. So I turned it off and put on Fox News, as soon as I figured out what was going on I posted here (I think I started the thread).

I tried to help and keep people up to date in the posts.

I came home from Las Vegas and flew into Newark on 9/10 at around 11:45 pm. The last I saw the Towers was from the window of an airplane at night, on the eve of their (and the people that were employed there) demise. I got home around 3 am and went to bed around 6 am. I woke up around 10 am and put on my radio, Don and Mike were on at the time. They were talking about "We don't know what the whole story is yet, but obviously this is an attack". I immediately turned on my TV and was horrified.

After about 20 minutes of disbelief, I remembered that it was a Tuesday, and that my brother was at work on Wall St.

My dad and stepmother flew into Vegas the day I left, so they weren't around, and I had trouble getting through to them on the phone. My mom and stepdad live local, but I only got the machine when I called. I didn't have my brother's number at work.

About an hour later I got a phone call from my dad checking I was ok, and if I heard from my brother yet, which I hadn't. An hour or so after that I heard he was safe, and made his way out to Jersey on the last ferry out to Liberty Island.

Once I knew he was ok, I did feel better a little, but that was only a small sense of relief in a day gone wrong.

After that, I kept tuned to O&A and R&F for updates and comfort.

As my brother tells his story, it goes like this.

He was at a Starbucks, when two German tourists were confused over the "ticker tape parade". So thinking "there's no ticker tape parade today", he looks outside and sees paper all in the air. He went out and picked up a piece of paper which was stationary from Tower One.
So he ran to his office on Wall St. and his boss said "There was a fire at the World Trade Center, nothing to worry about...in fact, since they're closed, we have room to make some good trades" (my brother was a currency trader at the time). At that moment, the second plane hit. So obviously everyone knew at that point it was more than just a fire. So as he exited his building, all he could see was ash and limbs laying about.

He made his way to the ferry and then to Jersey, and found his way to a train back home.

A few days after, my mom played back his answering machine message he left as he was trying to get out and to let her know he was ok.

It was one of the most horrifiying things I've ever heard.

I was finishing up my last semester at college. Tuesday was my ONE day to sleep in, so I did, finally waking up around 9:45. I got up and walked to the showers...nobody else was in the bathrooms, but I could hear all these TV's on different news broadcasts, and words like "fire", and "plane crash", and thinking it was just the latter I took a shower, not even thinking about it. Got out, shaved, walked back to my room, STILL heard all the news, shrugged, thinking, "man, must've been a bad one." Switched on the TV as I dressed to CNN (I fall asleep with a news station on always), and could only see a closeup of one of the towers. I mean, it was tight, just the fires and the windows and people...and at the bottom it just said "WTC ATTACKED." For like a full minute I sat there blanking, like, "what the fuck is the WTC?!?". Then literally, the second it dawned on me, the first tower collapsed. My stomach literally dropped as fast as the building did and I threw up right there. This woke my roommate up, he's yelling, "dude, are you alright?!?" And then I did the strangest thing EVER...I turn around to him, still gagging, eyes all watery, and I laugh, I LAUGH as I say "someone just blew up the World Trade Center."

Sickest feeling I've ever had. Absolutely bizzare. Then I heard about the Pentagon...reports of planes still in the air...something happening at the State Department...I start thinking about all my friends and family in DC...friends working in the Pentagon, my parents and fellow co-workers still working for the CIA, friends interning on Capitol Hill...friends in NY, cousins in NY...man, it was insane.

And I just remember how beautifully fucking blue the sky was that day...not cold, not hot, no clouds...just perfect...even down in SW VA. Such a waste of a perfect day...

i was about 2 weeks into my very first semester of college, and i remember listening to a CD that morning in the car, and then i was driving down Lottsford Rd. here in PG County, MD, and for some reason, i have no idea why, i just decided to put on "Eliott in the Morning" on DC101, which i despise, and i heard someone say something about a plane and the WTC, so i changed to the news station and just listened in shock. I continued on to my Telivision, Radio and Film class, and the prof put on the TV and we watched the news coverage, he told us to take notes on what we were seeing, and when i look back on those notes, its just a real jumbled mess with thousand thoughts going everywhere, just like my mind was. i mustve said "good god almighty" at least a million times. when the prof let us go early, i walked thru the halls back to my car, and ill never forget this one girl bawling here eyes out. one of my sister's sorority girls lost a family member, and my best pal lost a cousin...

it was one of the most horrible, hearwrenching days of my life. id visited the world trade center twice before on high school russian class field trips, and i just didnt want to think that some of those nice people were gone, especially the one of the nicest cops i ever met..

one of my most treasured pictures ill try to keep forever is the pic inside the WTC of me and my best friend Jill, sitting on a stoop on an apartment model at one of the exhibits...

I was home at the time, I woke up not know about the first plane hitting the WTC, and I logged on aol, and I saw alittle picture of the twin towers, with smoke from one of them. I started to think it was the anniverary of the 93 bombing but I remember it was in Feburary. I ran to the living room and turnned on the tv. Then the shock, sadness and anger started kicking in, after the seeing the second plane hit. I knew from that point on my life was going to lead to a path where I fight the hurt and emptyness of that day occurred and gave and new purpose. And the way those who gave their lives for the innocent people. It help think about living a childhood dream of mine of being a firefighter. I was going to apply for the next firefighter exam. Getting back to what I did that day just watch the tv with shock and disbelieve especially when the towers fell, I was hoping those two building would hold, and then the first and second fell and an unexplainable emotion came over me. Ever since that day I never forget until the day I die.

the last time I ever saw those
proud towers standing was from
my rear view mirror on route 78
in Summit on the top of the hill
for those familiar with the area.

My job starts at 11, so I was in
my car listening to Howard when
he says planes have hit the WTC!
I was like cmon Howard, what
kind of crazy bit is this? So I
turned on WINS to hear the
serious voice of an announcer
state that two jumbo jet airliners
have hit the the WTC and the
South tower has now collapsed! I
was in complete panic! I was
desperate to get to work to see
what was happening and it
seemed like hours to get their
when it was only 30 minutes! i
remember stopping at an
overlook in Chester where the
once clear view of the towers
was now covered in a huge
plume of smoke. My first thought
was how the f did airport tower
people mess this up, how did
they get not one but two towers
hit? Then it became clear that
this was no accident when they
said a plane hit the pentagon
and another was possibly down
in PA.

I will NEVER forget hearing
Stuttering John say, "people
were jumpin from the buildings,
actually jumping". Still crazy!

We will never forget!!!!

I was off from work that day, so I was sound asleep when the first plane hit. My mother, who was working uptown, called my house. She told my wife that a plane had flew into one of the Twin Towers. My wife woke me up and told me what had happened. While we were watching the news, the second plane hit. My wife instantly called her mother, who works in the downtown area, to see if she was OK. We decided to take our son out of school. When we came back, the first tower had went down. It was the most surreal thing I had ever seen. So you can imagine what we felt when we actually watched the second tower come down. It officially hit me when the Pentagon was hit that there was a war about to happen. Almost our whole family and a bunch of my friends came to our house to be together. Thankfully, both of our mothers came home safe. It was the scariest day I ever lived through. I think about it every day. I think about the brave firefighters and the police officers who lost their lives. But most of all, I think about the families of all of the innocent civilians who were killed by a bunch of terrorist bastards who will forever rot in hell.

My usual shift at work was 3pm-11pm, but the week of September 10th, I was to attend a training class for a new computer system, from 11am-7pm. I woke up at 9:05am on the morning of September 11th. I got a shower, ate, and called my auto dealership to make an appointment for a tuneup. The man at Ford motors sounded fine-there was nothing unusual that I noticed in his voice. I had the television on, but it was on TVLand the whole time. Left for work at about 10:35am. Was listening to a song on the radio. Halfway to work, I pulled up to a red light, just as the dj came on the air and said that the World Trade Center had been destroyed by 2 hijacked airplanes, and that the Pentagon had also been severely damaged. Sat in my car, absolutely stunned. Got to work, and it was on everyone's faces-shock. I had never heard my busy office so silent. We tried to go on with the training class, but it was futile. Took a lunch break and I sat in my car, in the parking lot, listening to 1010 WINS. Hearing people describe this horror, and trying to picture it in my mind, because I had not seen it yet. After lunch, I went back into the office, and the trainer said that they were postponing the class for today. As I drove home, I noticed there were very few other cars on the road-strange for that time of day. I had to fight to keep my composure as I was driving home. All I kept thinking as I got closer to my house, was, "Oh my god. What the hell must this look like?" Because up until this point, I had only heard the news on the radio; I hadn't been able to see it on tv. The moment I stepped inside the house, I burst into tears, because I knew what I was about to see was going to change my life forever. Turned on the tv and saw it all. It took me several days to get my hands to stop shaking.

I was already at Hunter at that time. I heard of this when I left my early Spanish class and went to the bookstore (to buy some books) where the radio (which is never on) was on high as people stood silently, listening intently and some were noticeably crying (fearing the worst). I also heard people running frantically down the escalators saying something about a plane hitting the World Trade Center. It was a horrible sight, at school, away from my family. Not knowing if they were safe.

I could get into great detail,
because I of course remember
everything vividly, but I will keep
it short so I don't put anyone to
sleep. I had the news broken to
me in 2nd period calculus. The
principal came onto the
loudspeaker and announced that
2 planes had flown into the Twin
Towers, but they were in tact
and it "appeared" to have been a
terrorist attack. Of course when
I heard two planes, I imaged two
small single-engine private
planes. Something small. They
said that anyone who had family
in the WTC should head
downstairs to the main office.
One kid to the left of me ran out
of the room with the look of pure
fear in his face. (Luckily his
mother ended up escaping
safely.) By the end of third
period, I was in graphic design
and the teacher said to just stay
in the computer center, but he
didn't bother teaching class. The
kid next to me was surfing some
news sites and he turned to me
and said "The South Tower is
gone." ...I paused for a moment
in confusion. No way, what do
you mean? How? The antenna
tower on top of it? Can't be the
whole building... I looked over to
his screen and saw an image of
only one tower standing. MY
heart rose to my throat and I
reached a state of utter disbelief.
Okay, so maybe I'm not keeping
this as short as I wanted to, but
it's hard to keep something like
this short. So, after hours of
chaos in the lunchroom, I finally
find someone who can give me a
ride home. We carpooled as
many as possible and I was
dropped off a good mile from my
home, because checkpoints
wouldn't let us go any further. I
lugged my heavy bag all the way
home in the hot weather and the
silent sidewalks. A look of panic
was on every person's face. The
atmosphere could not be
described. I finally got home and
my mother waas watching the
news and crying. I went up to
my roof and saw the huge clouds
of smoke covering lower
Manhattan and felt like I was
watching something out of a
really bad movie... only it was
real. It is easily one of the worst
days of my life, and one of the
toughest, eeriest following
weeks as well. It took a long
time before things got back to
"normal". And that is my long
story that I promised I would
keep short. God bless NYC. God
bless America. And God bless
Ron & Fez.

I was sleeping, the phone woke me and my brother was on the other end telling me that they just destroyed the Twin Towers, i was still half asleep, and i kinda wish now that i had just gone back to sleep because it was likea living breathing nightmare, i turned on the tv and there was no reception except for one of the channels, i seriously thought my brother was fucking around with me but when i saw it my jaw dropped. I really dont have any words that can describe the feelings/emotions i was having. I hung up with my brother a called my mom and she was freaking out(she worked at a blood-bank) She told me that i was going to stay with some relatives seeing as she was going to be working 24-7 for the next couple of days and she didnt want me alone just in case something was to happen. I really cant say what i still feel about that day....hatred..loss...anger...most likely disappointment in the shortcomings of the human race.

I was at work, early, one of the
guys I work w/came in and said,
"I think a plan hit the WTC". We
turned on the tv and tried to
figure, how on such a beautiful,
crystal clear day a pilot could hit
a building. Then to our horror
the second plane hit, and the tv
just went to snow. I remember
who was in the room, what they
wore, and how incredibly
shocked everyone looked.
I will never forget the panic I

I was in school when one of my friends came out and told me that they heard from someone else who saw it on a tv that what happend. I thought it was just made up by a couple of kids so I went on normally. When I got out of PE and went to civics and saw my teacher crying I knew something was F'd up. No teachers would allow us to watch tv because they said we should talk with our families first. I was soo anxious to get home that day. Kids where getting picked up early , teachers were hugging and crying with each other , the halls were silent - the day was so strange. When I got home I was so shocked and didn't take my eyes off of CNN for at least 3 days.

I had broken my arm 2 days before 9/11 so i was home from school. I woke up and my mom was getting ready for work and she was watching Good Morning America and she told me to watch it. I didn't see the first one hit when it happened but i saw the second one and i was terrified. My brother was 19 and i was really worried that they're would be a draft and he would have to go to the war. I don't wanna ever feel that again.

I was in the midst of unemployment, home watching TV, feeling sorry for myself. And then in those next few moments I realized the insignificance and pettiness of my own self pity. I've been counting my blessings ever since and I'll never forget about the heroes who lived and died that day.

Well, I have a few stories.

A friend of mine went in for minor surgery on 9/11 at 8am.

When he woke up, the nurse said, "Well, we have good news, your surgery went fine... but there's some bad news..."

I was alone for most of the week of 9/11.

My entire family was spread out over the country - they had been traveling and they got stuck.

I was finally convinced by a good friend of mine to attend her wedding on 9/15... even though I didn't want to go.

I spent most of the week in my place, drinking and watching fox news.

I was doing some work right across the East River. I saw the tower after the first plane hit and called my boss to let him know traffic was going to be too fucked up for me to get to my next job. I kind of blew the whole situation off at first, thought some asshole didn't know how to fly. A few minutes later we saw thew other plane come out of nowhere and hit the other building. When the first tower collapsed the ground shook, the sky filled with smoke and even though we couldn't see the tower we didn't believe that it had collapsed. The smoke cleared just in time for us to watch the next tower collapse. Again we couldn't beleive what we had just seen, heard, and felt. A few minutes later a boat full of cops came by looking for iron workers. I jumped on the boat and spent the rest of the day cutting steel. I was actually standing on a pile of ruble that used to be over a thousand feet high, but I still couldn't believe what happened. Awful memories.

I had already been to school (cause of the time difference with you guys) and I was chatting with "godzilla" and he told me that a plane just crashed into the first building. So I immediately called my ex and my best friend, but they both said that I should relax and that there probably wasn't anything big going on. But from the things that I could see on CNN that wasn't true. I can't remember ever being so scared as that day, and remember that I fell asleep that night with the tv still turned on to CNN. I think that probably everybody still remembers everything from that day..

Ironically we had just had a fire drill second period
aand we came back in and they mentioned two
planes hit the world trade center. Now planes i
think a little cessna not a jumbo jet. I was truly
horrified as we turned on the news and they were
talking about 767's and things like that.

What a surreal this is not happening type of day.
and they tried to shut off the tvs and have us learn
that horrible day.
We saw the towers fall during math. My father was
doing triage in Newark for the newark Fire
Department . He could see it from his own building
and they saw the second jet hit. What a horrible
thing to see

I hadn't started working days yet, so I had the misfortune to be watching right after the news of the first impact broke. I was watching when the second plane hit. I stood there for hours, just watching and crying with a phone in one hand and the remote in the other. I cried for the people I could see throwing themselves out the windows, for the people on those planes and the horrible fear they must have felt as they neared their fate, for all the emergency workers,my husband is a volunteer fireman in Mt. Kisco and 5 guys in their dept are FDNY as well. I wondered if anyone I knew was in danger (several were, but all made it out ok,inc one member of Rescue One, which was nearly completely wiped out). I worried about my husband who's in the Navy reserves, wondering if he'll be activated(he was put on stand by,hopefully Nov. will come and go and still find him home) most of all I cried for the children- the ones who would come home from school that day to find themselves without a parent and all the children who's safe, innocent childhoods were shattered that morning. I hoped that no one would tell them. That they would have just a few more short hours untouched by the horror we would all view again and again. <P>

Woke up early because i had some work to do on my car before going to work. Stopped by Sears to buy a couple of tools and couldn't find anyone to help me. Eventually found almost the entire staff in the electronics dept. watching the news. Then went home and spent one of the worst days of my life waiting to hear from my parents... both worked at the pentagon at the time and both were thankfully OK. Now I know howm my mom felt after the accident at the '88 Flugtag at Ramstein.

Sorry, I'll sit down now.

I was doing what I usually did on tuesdays back then - at work listening to the Sports Guys, getting ready to haul my butt down to NYC for a mid day meeting - heard them report what happened - called my wife and told her to put on the news. She also logged into AIM so we could talk while this was going on - she told me she watched a second plane hit. I went up to the 20th floor of our building to watch what was going on (we're about 20 miles from midtown). I called my boss to tell him I was going home. I helped a friend of mine retrieve a friend of his from the city (she got a cab to take her out of NYC and we picked her up). I drove them to the train and then went home to put out my flag and then spend the day in shock with my family. I also kept WNEW on all day - they guys got me thru it.

I had just gotten into Grand Central a little after the second plane hit. I had no idea what was going on. I walked to work and heard a few guys say something but paid them no mind. When I got to 46th and 5th, I saw a crowd of people looking downtown. I joined them and saw all that smoke and just thought it was some big fire. I put my walkman back on and heard about everything from The Sports Guys. I tried to get a hold of my pregnant wife, who works near there, on my cell and couldn't get anything. I ran to my office and tried to get a hold of everyone. I was able to get a hold of everyone I knew was down here and found out they were ok.

What made things worse were the rumors running around of the office about other things blowing up and the fact that we were trapped here and didn't know when and if we could get out. First chance I was able to get both of us out of there, I did.

It was so surreal when it happened. I still can't believe it's been a year.

I was walking up 42nd street on my way to work. I looked down one of the avenues checking for traffic, and saw dark smoke drifting eastward. I thought to myself "Must be a high-rise fire." Everyone on the street was walking around as if nothing had happened.

I reached my job, and as I walked in the receptionist said a plane hit the Trade Center. We discussed it a little, and she said it was a small plane. I turn down the hall, and my pager goes off- my parents. I go into my office and turn on my computer figuring I'll check out the news online (no TVs here), and called my parents. My mother is saying "WHEN ARE YOU LEAVING" I told her the I just got in, what is she talking about. They told me she and my father just witnessed the 2nd plane hit the other tower.

Our office started relying on information that we could get from some of the personal radios people had. I work right across from Grand Central, so we got put in lockdown. You go out, you don't get back in. People were crying, shaking, etc.

I searched for a way to get back to Jersey, when the Highland Ferries were said to be running (about 4pm) I walked 10 blocks to the terminal, got on. We stopped at pier 11 to pick up Downtowners. The smoke was drifting directly over us, and papers from the towers were still coming down- onto the ferry and and the pier. Just as we got the last of the people from pier 11, someone starts ringing a bell quickly and loudly and they start pulling that ferry out just as debris from Building 7's collapse starts reaching the pier. I got to Highlands, got hosed down by the FD, questioned by law enforcement, and had my parents pick me up and bring me to my car at the bus station in Lincroft.

I lived with my roommate at the
time in Wallington NJ and I was
at the police station around
8:30am paying off a parking
ticket. I left the station and then
headed to work in North
Arlington. I had Stern on and he
mentioned fire at the towers, I
thought it was a repeat of the
attacks a few years ago. I
switched to Sports Guys and
they were talking about the same
thing. The next second, I looked
up and noticed thick gray smoke
in the distance. I kept driving on,
I was on Schuyler Ave in North
Arlington which has a clear view
of the skyline. I looked to my left
and the next thing I saw was the
2nd plane hit the 2nd tower and
a big ball of fire just erupted.
Cars just stopped everywhere
and we all got out of our cars.
We all just stared in silence and
disbelief. Some were screaming,
some were just saying OMG
OMG. My cell was ringing off
the hook because my
roommate's boyfriend takes the
PATH into the trade center nd he
works just a few buildings away,
so she was panicking because
she wasn't getting though to him
on his cell. My parents were
calling me minutes later, worried
and horrified because they knew
how close I work to them. They
consider it close to me because
they live in central jersey.

I still had to go to work so we had
the radio on all day at work. I felt
like I couldn't breathe when they
announced the Pentagon was hit
and then a plane went down in
PA. I felt like the world was
coming to an end. It's something
I'll never forget and it was the
most horrible thing I've ever seen
or experienced in my life.

Well, to start off I just finished working my shift at the police department i was working for at the time.
I had my court date set for that day in Newark superior court. It was at 10 Pm so I was online from when I got home at 7:10 till about 8:45.
I was about to leave to go to court when my mother ( I was home with them at the time) was watching TV when all the locl channels blacked out. This was because most of them broacast from the top of the towers. I told my mother to switch to CNN, because they would broadcast what was going on...of COURSE we turned it on at the exact second the second tower was hit. I had all the radio channels on as much as I could. I arrived at court and parked in the lot of the department in Newark I used to work in. They informed me of all the updates I was not able to get from the media.
Court was VERy rushed...to say the least. We were the last hearing before they not only closed the courthouse but evacuated newark.
I got home about 2 hours later due to traffic and could not sleep for the rest of the day. I went back in to work for the dept. ( I was schedualled to work that night anyway) an hour early.
We had sent over 18 firefighters and officers (mostly emts and medics) to the site. It was very difficult to not be wires. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop that night.
When daylight hit the next day things finally started to even out. All of our officers were back and exhausted. I got home at 7:15 and was still not able to sleep.
Finally at 10:30 am my body could not do any more and I collapssed and blacked out..thank god I was standing over my bed.
I was awake from 5 pm monday til 10:30 am weds. and EVERY moment is burned into memory.
I was divorced and also worked my last day at the department and watched as we held our collective breaths all inthe same day.
I find it amazing how NO ONE has a blank spot in their memories for that day.
I will never forget it.

I NEVER suffer from insanity...I love EVERY minute of it

I was sitting in English class and one of the guidance counseler came in and whispered something in my english teachers ear. My english teacher just got real quite and didnt say anything to us and just sat down and then the guidance counseler came in again and whispered something else, then my english teacher asked her to tell us, and she said a plane flew into the world trade centers and another one crashed in the area that is in the middle of the pentagon. They didnt want to tell us that it actually crashed into the pentagon since alot of our parents work there. I didnt think much of it cause i wasnt sure what to think of it then in science my science teacher had the tv on the news and we just watched the news show the footage of the planes crashing into the towers and the towers collapsing and the pentagon crash the whole period. We didnt really do anything in my other classes that day. then i got home and watched the news. I think the towers had already collapsed actually when the guidance counseler was whispering to my english teacher cause it was around 10 o clock i think, i forget what time they collapsed.

I was driving to work. I work for the post office and at the time was working in Chester, NY. I had the Sports Guys on and they said that a small plane, like a cesna, had hit the first tower. I thought "How awful" but didn't think it was much more than an accident. By the time I reached the office and got inside, the second plane had hit. We only had the radio, so I didn't see any of the footage until much later. I remeber having to go out and find all the carriers and tell them to come back to the office cause we were closing down for the day. There were police everywhere. When I finally got home and saw the footage, I was sick and tearing up. I have family in the city and of course we couldn't get through to them. It was the scariest time fo my life.
