no one said Howard wasn't entitled to his opinions. most of the s that he spews is bunk in my opinion. as for O & A never never saying anything nice about him that is crap. i've heard them credit him with being a major influence on them and everyone who does this type of radio. I even remeber one of them using the word "pioneer". the way i always saw it was the main problem they had with Howard was that they felt his show has started to suck in recent years (which *I* think it has) and with the fact that he never shuts the f up and stops whining about all the "clones" and imitators out there ripping him off.

yeah, that gag order has really hurt shows like O & A and Ron and Fez. right. Howard forced that not to take potential material away from other shows, but because he's a pussy.

Anthony was on Howard's show? when was this? first i've ever heard of that.

as far as the Chaunce thing is
concerned, i really wouldn't be surprised if Opie pulled a dick move like that. I think he's capable of it. I don't trust the source though. Chaunce's a douchebag who just wants attention.

Before the gag order O and A only talked about Stern when he was in the news. When his stupid "bababooey" callers called in O and A called them stupid and moved on. And up until the gag order they never technically bashed Stern. When they DID talk about him however it was due to a news story and it was open season with no mercy, but only because the article permitted it. They never talked abut Stern simply because there was nothing to talk about but Stern. Check out the infamous "Corky Stern" bit to hear vintage O and A ragging on Stern. The reality of it is that O and A were the only ones he could stop from talking about him because they were both owned by infinity. Otherwise he'd have stopped all of the supposed "Stern clones" from talking about him. He couldn't take it so he cried about it. As far as anthony being a regular caller....so? Ron was a regular instant feedbacker for O and A. Stern is just glad that he got over because the man was scared.

Stern made Infinity the company it is. He felt fucked over by Mel Karmazin when O&A were handed his stations.

How long before Norton is on Stern's show? His friend Jim Florentine is already a regular.

I will try to say this as simply as possible.
RON AND FEZ ARE MY FAVORITE SHOW!
That said, I know quite a few people associated with Stern(radio, tv, promotions).
He does not have a problem with Ron and Fez. He attacks WNEW because he perceives the format as a slap in his face from the people who hired him(and who he made rich).
There is a good chance they will end up on K-Rock from 7-11, so lets not blow it, O.K.?

I've got to agree with you mojo. I like talk radio, so I listen to talk radio. In the morning in NY we get Stern, Curtis & Kuby and the Radio Chick. I'll take Stern Thank you.

Then NOTHING! Pure dead air. If the shows good, I'll listen. And just because you LOVE one show, it doesn't mean that "everything else sucks".

I think my biggest problem with Stern is that according to him, he invented everything. Forget Nikolai Tesla. Forget Lenny Bruce. Forget Steve Dahl. He invented it all.

I won't say he wasn't innovative in his time. I used to listen religiously. But I think his time has passed. He has to remind us every day that he as 3 years left. People who really enjoy what they do don't count the days left, they go out and do what they love everyday.

Just cuz Howard says he "invented" the talk format doesn't make it true, or even mean that he believes it. Look at Gene Simmons or Little Richard. They are personalities... entertainers. They say things to entertain. Howard's always said that all he ever wanted was to be the guy that people listened to on their way to work in the morning, and to make them laugh. Like anything else, you either like it or you don't. I think what he's most pissed off about and what he may claim to have come up with is a radio format based on his style ("his style" being not playing records and filling up a time slot with "talk" entertainment). I've been listening to him for almost 20 years and while I'd say I liked the show better maybe 10 years ago, that doesn't necessarily mean I don't still like listening. The show has definitely changed. He doesn't have that same "piss and vinegar" anymore. Hell, there was a time when he'd spend every waking moment going after other DJs until their shows were in the ratings gutter. Even if you don't like him, you have to give him credit and you can't deny his influence. And maybe you don't have to forgive him for being a self-serving dickhead, but you gotta admit... he's pretty good at it.

On a related note, I already hear a change in Ron & Fez's show. They seem to have lost some of their desire, too. And who can blame them. A woman called today and was excited that they were back on middays so now she could listen. Ron said under his breath "Yea, don't get too attached."
