Hey, y'all.
I'm seriously thinking about getting the PS2 this week, and I'm just wondering if you could give me a few titles each on AMAZING games you've played for it.
Also, how's the DVD in the PS2? I heard that people have had trouble with it.
SEE YUH!

If your into sports games buy from EA Sports, they make the best games.
Not sure about the DVD player, never used it (have a player in my room).

the dvd player works good for me. although, it did take a little while for me to figure out the controls for the dvd. but its relative easy.
as for games i would have to say, final fantasy 10, gta3, ace combat 3, and devil may cry. sorry, but i don't play sport games, so i won't be much help there.

LuLu, you can buy a remote control for the PS2, olny $19.99. I think I might get it and put my regular DVD player in another room.

yeah, i've heard about these. but why bother buying another remote for $20, when you can just use the handy, dandy controller? it might be confusing at first, but hell, if i figured it out, anyone can.

GTA3 . Metal Gear Solid Two , if you like good platform games try Jak and Daxter. SOCOM: Navy Seals just came out and Im picking it up tomorrow. As for the DVD player - I've had no problems with it but the sounds is really bad for me (anyone know how to adjust it , I have to turn my TV up really loud just to hear it , and then i get this wierd humming noise)

The DVD remote unlocks certain features that the controller does not perform (alternate angle, etc.). It's much easier to watch movies with the remote, so I would recommend it. As far as the quality of the player, I read a review awhile back written by a video freak into high end gear who said it's a decent player, better than the cheapest ones but not as fancy as the more expensive models.
Games: The Thing, Grand Theft Auto 3, Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, ICO, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Maximo

Thanks all. But here's a more specific question.
What is the 1 game I HAVE TO buy with the system? I'm only gonna get one to begin with, and what should it be?
And I guess I'll get the DVD remote with it right away too.

I'm currently stuck on Madden 2003, and Medal of Honor: Frontline is real cool too if you like first person shooters, and like me enjoy kickin nazi ass. You should get the game pass at Blockbuster. For 20 bucks you can get as many games as you want and keep them for a month. Then figure which are worth buying.

If you can only buy 1 game, get Grand Theft Auto 3. It's awesome, and will keep you busy for weeks.

Any Role Players you guys like for PS2?
Any good adventures?

That would be GTA3, lol. It says auto in the title, but its not a racing game.

I'm not into RPG's really, but Final Fantasy X and Baldur's Gate are supposed to be top notch. Or you could get The Thing or Silent Hill 2 if you're into the horror/adventure stuff. If you like old school adventure games, the Monkey Island game from Lucas Arts is good, and will only run you $25.

one game to put on your preorder list is Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, it comes out next month. its the sequal to gta3 and its based in the streets of miami. but you cant just buy one game. you need Gran Turismo 3 A-spec. its the best racing game ever. you also need to experiance Metal Gear Solid2, you can find both these games cheap now because they have been out for a while now. a good recent action/adventure game that came out just last week is Onimusha 2. also if you're a fan of John Carpenter's classic movie 'The Thing', then you might want to checkout the game by the same name. it came out last week too and its one of those deals where it starts out where the movie left off.
here's a good site which has forums for all of each console's games...

If your a big wrestling video game fan, look out for SMACKDOWN! 4: SHUT YOUR MOUTH! Its going to be an amazing game and comes out October 29th in the US, Halloween for the UK. I saw the trailer and was blown away. Check up on it, but I guarentee it will be better then Legends of Wrestling 2

Moe, maybe we were looking at the same Best Buy ad because I bought my PS2 on Labor Day. I have no problem with the DVD player. I know 1 person who had a problem with it and his PS2 games didn't work either.

Moe, - Metal Gear Solid 2 is a GREAT action/espionage game. The thing is good survival horror and check out Mark Of Kri , its fun action swordplay. Madden 2003 if you like sports, Gran Turismo 3 for racing and NHL 2003 if you like hockey (its out soon) Wanna play with Death?> Get GTA3, but Reserve GTA Vice City, youll be sorry if you dont, its gonna be 100 times better than GTA 3, (Vice City has 150 carss, 60 weapons, 800 character voices, cops go after other ppl not jsut you, MOTORcycles and the wacky radio stations.)
If you like Roleplaying theres Final Fantasy X or you can wait till like friday and get Kingdom Hearts, its Disney crossed with FF, its supposedly really good.
AIM me if you need some opinions man, im happy to help anyone.

For those of you with a membership to BJ's Wholesale Club, you can pick this game up brand new for $35. I haven't bought it yet, but that's the best price I found anywhere.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is amazing. great graphics and the plot and character developement make it feel more like an action movie than a game. I never played, but I actually got into watching my husband play it was so cool. Ace Combat 4 has great graphics and a good storyline if you're into the fighter pilot thing. My husband just got the SOCOM the navy seals game. It has a headset and is voice activated. The graphics are really good and it has online gaming capabilities. Medal of Honor 2 is good, if you're a WWII buff, storming the beaches of Normandy and that sort of thing. It's a great system, not always the best dvd player, but it'll get the job done.
