I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to describe these guys...and I just keep thinking LOUD. It's not thrash or metal or anything, and it's not punk or hardcore...it's actually like all of them thrown together with some actual singing on top of it. All I know is the live show kicked my ass. One minute, you've got a lead singer playing the guitar...then he and the drummer switch places, and now you've got a new lead singer 10 feet up on the speakers, howling at the people in the upper level. Instruments everywhere, amps being sonically fucked, drum kits toppling over...and yet the music goes on.

Might not be for everyone, but damn, it blew my mind.

ok. first off, i think this might be the best band name ever. sure, it's long, but as mojo said, they're affectionately known as "trail of dead" by fans and critics, etc.

next, i love this band. i was (still am, actually) very upset when i realized that i wasnt going to be able to go see them with queens of the stone age (who, by the way, rock, as well). trail of dead rocks out, they are loud, but there's something creative about what they do. it's hard to describe, but it's like they're not just loud for the sake of being loud, but because they have to be. and, while i've never seen them live, i've heard (as mojo attested) that they are rad as hell in concert.

i recommend that people check out this band... especially those who argue that there's no good music out today (*cough* heckler *cough*)... you've just gotta know where to look for it

So did I, but given the fact that the Trail of Dead singer was saying that the Queens show was delayed because "Dave is sick", I'm hoping that here in DC we get him at least for that show...given that the club is almost in his backyard, that was the big rumor anyways...

The non-metal men with the metal-est name around and the ugliest album covers known to man have returned this coming Tuesday with their new album "Worlds Apart."

These guys are still my favorite American band by far, and what I've heard of this new album sounds great. And they've even upped the ass-kicking/wankery level by adding a second drummer.
