I tried that in a hotel at Ocean City. It didn't work to well. I got away from the person i knocked on their door but unfortunatly I took the stairs (wrong stair) an accidently set off the fire alarm. Then I wasn't running from the Hotel visitor , I was running from 2 security officers. As for the name I always called it "Doorbell Ditching"

I believe it was Ding Dong Ditch, or something like that.
If you ever used that in Brooklyn, you would have your legs broken.
We called it "fucking with the scumbag neighbors", plain and simple.

It was ring and run or some called it ring, bang, smack and run.
There would be six or more of us, each would get one house, then ring the bells, smack the house and bang on the doors. Then run for the hills

I played in the early late 80s and called it ring and run. We also had a more modern game where we started at one end a block and ran up it pulling on car doors setting off all of the alarms. Didn't have a name though.

We did that too, but we targeted specific houses, those belonging to landlords and cops. What a stupid rush as a kid that was, I swear if a kid did that to me now i would hunt them down and slaughter them like a pig.

What do you do to the people who do it to you. One time these kids were ringing my door bell. They would come again and again so I filled a supersoker with piss and sprayed them. THey never came back.
Its pretty cold in here.......

I played alittle ding dong ditch in the 70's. It seemed incredibly, friggin' hysterical at the time. Of course we used to call the bowling alley and ask them if they had 12 pound balls and put people's hands into pans of tempid water at slumber parties to make them pee in their sleeping bags and thought that was hilarious as Hell too.
