The Peak of the Ferrall/O&A/R&F Combo

To me, it was when Ferrall came on R&F and sang a duet (wasn't it Panama?) with Stalker Patty. I actually remember thinking this is the golden period of WNEW. The cross-fertilization was excellent; you had Ferrall (and Patty) on everyone's show, Anthony on R&F, R&F on O&A, and there seemed to be an "us vs. them" attitude about D&M. Even after the Stalker Patty incident you had Opie on R&F that Friday when the Opie stalker was arrested. It was great radio insofar as it seemed rather real, and not contrived - not something I'd expect from Opie. <br><br>
I returned from an 8-day vacation Monday evening, and wondered why there was someone other than R&F on at 10 pm. You leave for a week, and the whole station turns over...<br><br>
but R&F were champs today, and carried on in winning fashion. While it took two years to get to that point (and now it is now back to square one), I hope this peak will be eclipsed someday shortly.

I miss the old days when everyone played nice in the sandbox. You could listen to WNEW all day and always get a laugh to help you along. Now it's just Ron and Fez alone on the battlefield. Hopefully, the cool old days of the AFRO zone are not behind us- just waiting to regroup and emerge from a happier place on the dial where they will hopefully be appreciated and promoted the way they deserve to be.
