PS2 Games

So I've finally gotten a PS2 for my birthday (thanks poopie), and I'm wondering what games I need.

I got FFX, MGS and Dak and Jaxter so far. I have GTA3 for the PC. Whate else do I need? Are there any early/cheap games worth getting?

Congrats on getting the PS2...you won't be disappointed. At any rate, here are some cool games that won't break the bank. Gran Turismo 3 ($20), Twisted Metal: Black ($20), and Star Wars Starfighter ($20). Any game out for 9 months that sold over 500,000 copies qualifies as a Greatest Hits game and will usually sell for $20. Except, of course, games that still sell really well like GTA3 which continue to sell at full price 1 year later. *sigh*

The NHL games by EA are a blast, as are the Madden games. The newest versions cost $50, but you can get last year's edition for cheap, and they're still good.

If you're into shooters, pick up Half-Life ($30), Timesplitters, Unreal Tournament ($20), Red Faction ($20), or Medal of Honor: Frontline ($50).

Best of luck. And by the way, the PS2 makes a decent DVD player, so if you are going to use it to watch movies, pick up the Sony DVD remote for $20 (the after market models are crap).

Red Faction was the best first-person shooter on the PS2. The sequel looks to be even better. Red Faction is available for $20 and it's $20 worth spending.

If you like hockey and/or violence NHL Hitz 2002 is awesome (especially with a multi-tap some friends and some brews), or wait till Sept. 17 for NHL Hitz 2003.

got it.

I'm not big on sports games. I never feel they get the game right. I have GTA3 for the PC. Most shooters that are also on the PC, I have for the PC. Always better on PC with the ability to use the keyboard. (Half-Life, Unreal)

And the PS2 is on the tv next to the PC usually, so I can patch thru whichever isn't being used to play a dvd while I play on the other screen.

Get Mark of Kri, its awesome. The Thing is new, and you can read my review, im enjoying it. Get Madden 2003. When NHL 2003 is out, im definatley getting it. And this SOCOM Navy Seals is supposedly pretty good, its out tommorow.

IN Sept. The PS2 Online is realesed and you can play SOCOM, NHL 2003, MADDEN 2003 and other games online for free, aslong as you have an ISP. You also get Twisted Metal Black Online free with the purchase of their online adapater.

Those are the cool games out now, oh yeah Onimusha 2 if your into samuria action.

I have a cable modem and router. What games will make the purchase of the boradband adapter worthwhile?

For the broadband, you'll want SOCOM: Navy Seals, and maybe Twisted Metal Black: Online. There are other games coming out that will use it, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

A PS2 GAME THAT I FOUND TO BE REALLY GOOD IS DARK CLOUD. IT IS KIND OF A RPG BUT ITS REAL SCREEN FIGHTING(YOUR DONT GO TO A BATTLE SCREEN). yOU HAVEA TO GO THRUOGH CAVES AND DUNGEOS AND COLECT PEACES TO REBUILD THE WORLD. I DONT LIKE RPGS MUCH BUT THIS ONE IS REALY KOOL <P>

doesn't state of emergency get very repetitive? well, thats what at least i heard. oh yeah, dark cloud 2 being made if you wanted to know.

october releases:

bloodrayne - your a hot vampire chick going around killing nazis. sounds fun to me.

lotr: the fellowship of the ring - this will focus on frodo, gandalf, and aragorn. from what i can tell, you can only be aragorn in this one.

mark kate & ashely: sweet 16 - this just sounds naughty.

wwe smackdown! shut your mouth - i don't know if this will be much better than the other wrestling games.

november releases:

lotr: the two towers - you can either be gimili, legalos, or aragorn in this one. fighting orcs, cave trolls, and ring wraiths. good times. (sorry if i spelt their names wrong)

rygar: the legendary adventure - remake of the classic nes game. looks great so far.

my advise: always rent before you buy.
