i think that once brock gets close to goldberg's unbeaten streak, goldberg will come back and ultimately defeat brock. but thats just my thought on the situation...it probably won't happen. <P>

Goldberg really is over rated , no talent football player. Just goes to show how bad wcw was to push a guy to be the champ in such a small time with a small amount of real wrestling ability , but Im sure he will be in the wwe soon , when the checks stop rolling in. And Ill mark out.

i am not a fan of goldberg, but he did have an extreme amount of talent. the man was 285 and doing standing backflips! Each match he was adding a new move to his arsenal. the problem with Goldberg was his attitude. If he would just get with the program, and learn to be a player instead of the whole show, I think he would be an asset to the wwe

Goldberg will be in Japan later this month. I believe he's working the 8/30 & 8/31 All Japan shows. Taking on Satoshi Kojima & Taiyo Kea, respectively. From there, it's expected that he'll likely make a meeting with the WWE and sign.

For us Japan marks, we're a bit depressed at the thought of Kea & Kojima (two of the better Japanese wrestlers today) having to job to him.

Just goes to show how bad wcw was to push a guy to be the champ in such a small time with a small amount of real wrestling ability ,

I disagree with this. True, Goldberg did not have a solid fundamental base (the guy's inexperience ended Bret Hart's career), and the sudden success only fueled his ego far beyond his ability, but the Goldberg push was SMART. It not only gave WCW good ratings, but made them money. They made lots of mistakes with him, but the decision to push him was something that worked, well, for quite some time.

Careful what you say...WWE made that same mistake last nite, except now they call him Brock. Now Borne Too Loose, Brock is a different professional wrestler and nothing like Goldberg except the gigantic push.

Brock Lesnar is a legitimate pro, was the NCAA Heavyweight Champion. He has credentials not like Goldberg, who was just another footbal player turned sports-entertainer.

Originally, I did not want him to hold the title but I think this is a good thing. If Kurt Angle could... Brock Lesnar should as well.

For the person who mention Kojima and Kea. Taiyo Kea is not a japanese, he is a native of Hawaii, his real name is Manaukea Mossman. On the topic of Goldberg; he is also rumored to be working MMA (mixed martial arts) shows in Japan in such promotions as K-1 and PRIDE.

Oh, don't split hairs.

He's a puro star. He's made his mark in Japan.

I would label him a Japanese wrestler, even if he wasn't technically Japanese by ethnic background. I'd list guys like Scott Norton or Vader as "Japanese" wrestlers, in a sense.

. On the topic of Goldberg: he is also rumored to be working MMA (mixed martial arts) shows in Japan in such promotions as K-1 and PRIDE.

Check out puroresupower.com for full coverage. Goldberg's experimenting with Japan in order to cash a quick check.

I doubt Goldberg would really go into the MMA competitions, but that might be interesting.

Many of the Japanese pro-wrestlers do compete in the real MMA matches as well. Sakuraba, one of the best (if not the best) MMA fighters in the world, is a pro-wrestler. He is phenomenal in the MMA matches, I'd like to see how crazy he is in the pro-wrestling format.

What are they gonna do now?

Alas, Sakuraba got his ass handed to him by Filipovic today (yesterday?).

I'm actually very philosophically against MMA athletes competing as pro-wrestlers, as the vast majority of them are NOT good. Some of them, like Takayama or Minoru Tanaka, are good workers, but more times than not you wind up with a Kaz Fujita or a Don Frye who are decent to good MMA fighters, but really shitty wrestlers. Goddamn Antonio Inoki has done a lot to kill puroresu and his own company with this "Strong Shoot Style" nonsense.

Wreslters who do MMA don't usually fare well, either. Just ask Ka Shin or Yuji Nagata. I CAN see Goldberg doing MMA, though. BUT - if he does, fully expect it to be a worked shoot. They won't let him get seriously injured. I doubt he'd put himself in a situation where he'd allow himself to be legit injured. He's got too much to lose: likely, he will eventually sign with McMahon. I can see him doing one to two worked shoots, for a big paycheck.
