There is still a possibilty that Opie and Anthony could return to Infinity Radio at some future time.
Once the FCC stuff dies down, having them back is not totally out of the question.
Just look at the press release: the show has been "Canceled". Interesting word. Not "terminated". Not "fired".

I think the only reason the word "FIRED" Was never used is because they are still under contract... So technically they are still on Viacom's payroll... Once they either negosiate(Sp?) a way out of the contract or find another company to sign them they are being paid by Viacom... I really doubt they will be back on an Infinity radio station after some of other things spokespeople have said about them.. A viacom spokesperson said they were cancelled because they can't bring in national advertisers.. I guess Budweisher is too small a company to be considered a national advertiser...

Infinity did what they had to do. They fired O&A to protect themselves legally. Unfortunately owning a business today is very tough in this lawyer-crazy country. Ownership (mel) has to worry about liability. Expect those 2 people from VA. to sue. I doesn't matter what waivers you sign, you can always sue (business law 101). Anyone here have any idea what WNEW's licence is worth? Try in the neighborhood of 60 million, it is an extremely strong signal is the most populated area of the country. They could go to Q-104 there morning show of HOCKEY HAIR and the RAdio chick didn't get a ratings increase when they added the Chick.. CC could fire them both ( OH PLEASE I HOPE SO) I F'n hate Bob Buchman... They could bring in O an A gain ratings which would increase their ad dollars for the rest of the station.... That is the only Clear Channel station that makes sense...

I'm not saying what happened was right but if you listen to the tape carefully you'll notice something interesting. At first they were doing it outside of St. Patricks then anthony told Paul that alot of people were saying that his couples were doing it outside of these places and not inside. Anthony was talking about the places Paul was at before but Paul took it to mean that ant wanted them to go into St Pats so thats what he did.

The media reported it like O and A organized a sex romp at St. Pats and described everything that was going on on the air which was biased reporting.

woman works for another
subsidiary of Viacom that will for
now remain un-named, so I do
have a little info on what
happens when someone under
contract is "cancelled". In most
media companies, when a
"contracted" employee is fired or
laid off, unless the company can
prove a breach of contract, they
are legally required to buy out
the employee's contract, or to
put it in simpler terms, just give
the fired employee a huge lump
of cash equal to the amount the
employee would have made with
benefits for the period of time
specified in their contract. But in
the case of Viacom and it's
subsidiary's, they seem to be
notorious for just letting their
"fired" contracted employee's
contract just run out. this means
that they keep paying them their
regular salary and benefits for
the period of time specified in
their contracts, but the "fired"
employee doesn't have to show
up for work.

I know that this tactic may sound
really strange, but the strategy
for viacom and it's subsidiary's is
to avoid long costly legal battles
over contract disputes as well as
paying out huge lump sums of
cash. I personally know at least
two "Fired" people from Viacom
companies that just sit at home
and collect their paychecks
because Viacom doesn't want a
costly legal mess, and the
employee is getting paid for
doing nothing, so everybody's
happy. I don't really know how
this will effect the O & A show, I
guess it depends on if Infinity
decides to pony up and buy out
their contract for a huge sum of
cash (unlikely), or if they just let
the guys sit at home and play
fucking everquest all day and pick
pumpkins while collecting a nice
salary + benefits. If I were O
and A....Fuck yeah...I'd take the
money and run. fly on down to
the keys and have the maid
check the mail for my check!
either way, I seriously doubt that
the guys are hurting for $$$. I

That station cant even pay its producers and for a station that that had its main DJ's not even able to crack the top 10 is pretty pathetic. If they were making the sation any money the sattion wouldnt have fired them ..they wouldnt have caved..and they wouldnt be running R & F reruns 12 hours a day. True, but you picked the one sport that is the exception. If a team releases a player in baseball, hockey, or the NBA they in fact DO have to pay him the rest of his contract. The NFL doesn't have guaranteed contracts like the others.
Another good, publicized, fairly recent example, was Sony buying out the remaining years of Mariah Carey's recording contract. And, it happened with Rocky Allen after he was cancelled from WPLJ by Disney. He and Blaine had to wait until the end of their contracts to find new jobs- then Blaine joined the Sports Guys.
