Ron and Fez are being moved AGAIN!!!

WNEW/New York may be in line for a full-fledged format flip itself now that O&A are no longer there to carry the station. Outside of afternoons, the station has floundered in its current Hot Talk format. Today WNEW is airing The Best of Tom Leykis from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Ron & Fez will start their evening show an hour earlier. Beginning next week, Ron & Fez will move into afternoons (2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.) and Leykis will air live from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Middays are to be announced. Presumably, other Westwood One affiliates that carried O&A will air The Bet of Tom Leykis in afternoons until a more permanent solution is decided.



2-6 PM?! What kind of time slot is that?! Nonetheless, I will support them, but no way in hell I'm listening to lick-ass

Today was the worst afternoon. I felt like Billy Staples after quitting cold turkey. I watched CBS 2 for over an hour since they teased me with an O&A story at 4:50 (Bastards showed it at like 5:55). Lick-Ass sucks dick just like any other political talk show (see Adolf Hannity).

Well actually it's a good timeslot. It's PM drive time. It's basically O & A's shift minus the last hour. So Ron & Fez will get a lot of listeners driving home from work between 4 and 6. That's the good news. The bad news is that without a semi decent lead-in show, a lot of people might forget to tune in. But then again, for months O & A had the shitty lead-in of Don & Mike and they did OK. This is probably only temporary anyway. WNEW is sure to go with a new format. This soooooo sucks. <P>

This is bad. This is gonna make R&F look like backstabbers to O&A fans, even though they likely have no choice and may not even want to. I'd hate to be in their poisition. It's like choosing between your friendships and career. I'd hope O&A would understand, they probably will, but some of their fans won't and could be trouble. Not to mention the fact that, down the road, O&A and R&F could find themselves competing against each other.

Not at all-R&F are still under contract to Infinity and at this point really do not have a choice. They are not going to walk out of NY radio without somewhere else to go. Without O&A WNEW will probably go through with the format change. At that point R&F will probably given the opportunity to opt out of their contract. O&A will most likely be back on somewhere and look for R&F to follow. Sucks but no matter where the guy's go they are sure to get more promotion then they have with WNEW.

the funniest and greatest radio personalities of all
time. Even when I'm feeling down, withing a few
minutes of listening to them I'm laughing. If I were
in the "biz" I would offer them a TV show. I think
they could kick SNL's ass after a short while of
building an audience.

I'm sick over O and A leaving. I know they'll land on
their feet. I hope it's soon.

The device you're thinking of is the VersaCorder made by the C. Crane company. The website is www.ccrane.com

It's a really great machine: I have one, and tape R+F all the time with it.

A cheaper solution if you have a VCR, is simply to hook the output of any radio into the audio input of any VCR. With a T-160 tape at SLP speed, you can tape 8 hours of audio [the VersaCorder does 4 hours].

I live near DC, AND THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS AT WJFK TOOK OF RON AND FEZ WITH O AND A. I am so choked up, adn I am the most emotionally hardened person you could meet. With no more Ron adn Fez, I hav NOTHING to lookforward to, nothing to live for. This sucks so bad. Personally, I wouldn't worry about O&A competing with R&F. If they go to Clear Channel, or whoever would take what I guess would be deemed a "risk" in taking them, I would think they'd want to be on at mornings to compete with Stern, which is their stated dream. Obviously, being owned by Infinity, WNEW never was able to give them that opportunity. The rumor was if they DID sign with Q104 last summer, they would've gotten the morning slot now occupied by the horrible Radio Chick. So, expect O&A to pop up on mornings now that they are off Infinity. Which means no competition with R&F. Of course, it means competition with Ferrell, which sucks cuz he's starting to kick ass, but whatya gonna do?

i tuned in yesterday right when lickass was playing part of a dixie chicks song. it was the most aweful 15 seconds of my life. NEW is finished regardless - hopefully r&f will use whatever time they will have from 2-6 to grow thier fan base so that when the station does flip, they will get a great deal somewhere else. <P>

I may need to buy one of those radio recorders I cant even listen to old Ron and Fez. It's just not the same. Even when its only from a few hours ago, Just like I cant watch ESPN 2's sports games that are re-played the next morning. <P>
Ron and Fez currently have the best time slot for me. I can hear the whole show since I'm just about always home at that time. With 2-6, I can only hear the last 2 1/2 hours because of school and school work. If Ron and Fez were ever in the morning, it would be hard for me to catch them since I'm not one of those

Well, I'm sort of relieved... my worst nightmare was that they'd be moved to middays with D&M taking over afternoons. At least, now I have something to listen to in the afternoons while making my deliveries.
