Calling all cops

Ok I'm looking for some info about the N.Y.P.D exam. I picked a date to take the exam and i saw that it said wold be notified about the the exact info (location for starters) about ten days before the test. Now this is kinda F'ed up. How do I know if I'm even schedualed to take the test until then? I dont wanna study my ass off for nothing........
Also I'm looking for a general idea of how this whole process works.......ths is what I've heard so far.......
Take the exam, If I score good I get assigned someone thatll interview me and iff these two things go well I could be in in about a year.
Wheres the academy fit into this and why would it take a year before I'm actually on the job????

My 1st bit of advice...DONT DO IT!!!! However, to answer your questions: You should be receiving a confirmation in the mail that you are scheduled to take the test on that date prior to the afore-mentioned location notice. You absolutely DO NOT have to study for this exam. It is a basic skills test to supposedly keep us from hiring retards...doesnt always work. A few months after the exam, youll receive your score card, telling you if u passed or failed and what your score was. "If" you passed, you will soon be contacted by an investigator, who will meet with you, investigate your background, schedule you for medical and psychological exams, etc. This process takes awhile. A year sounds about right nowadays. How soon you get hired depends on your "list number". This depends on how well you did on the test compared to others. Higher score naturally means higher list number, which equals sooner employment. When you get hired, the academy begins and will last anywhere from 6months to a year. I wish you luck, meaning I wish u realize you should be taking the nassau, suffolk, or westchester tests, if not in stead of, at least in addition to this piece of crap. Good luck!!

You dont have to study for the test its not very hard and it takes about a year because they have to do backround checks on you. I wouldnt limit myself to just the nypd test, take every test you can. Its better to get hired from somewhere else money wise.
