The NYPD and FDNY unions are joining for a rally this Thursday to protest the ridiculous "raises" offered by the city. We are asking the public for support. If anyone is interested, it's Thursday, August 15 from 12noon-2pm, at 42nd street and Broadway in Manhattan. If u would like to know more, email or im me. I just thought I'd throw it out there. C Ya!

Both the NYPD and the FDNY are overworked and underpaid. It's a disgrace that Guiliani and now Bloomberg insult them with a paltry raise. It's time to treat them right with a decent contract. Christ, Sanitation workers do better!
Good luck Chris.

My brother called from there about 2ish...he wanted to know if it was live anywhere. Told him I didnt see it on TV, he is a cop himself and has to take a second job cutting yards up here for local cops who make an average of 69K a year...how is that for irony??

Thanks for the above comments, and to anyone who passed by to show their support, double thanks to you. The public support was tremendous. 2 hours screaming in the 90something degree heat and direct sunlite has left me exhausted and just a bit sunburned. Speeches from the pba and ufa presidents, various labor leaders including the Carpenters, Teachers, and Transit workers, widows of both cops and firemen, a letter from Sen. Chuck Shumer, and a visit by (gulp) Sen. Hilary RodhamClinton (who was eventually pretty well received). The high points were guest speakers Burt Young (Pauly from Rocky, also The Sopranos), and James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano). Mr Gandolfini asked the question, ..." If your house is on fire, you pick up the phone to call for help, but no one answers...what do u do? If someone's outside your door, trying to bust it down to get in your home, you pick up the phone for help, but no one answers...what do u do? This is what all citizens of NYC should ask themselves, and theyll realize, its time to give u gentlemen the raises you deserve." (not an exact quote-but close enuff). Oh, and how could I forget? The Rockettes, also facing their own labor problems, showed up to support us...a few wearing belly shirts...which was nice. It was all in all a pretty nice turnout (approx 50,000), and no arrests or causes for arrest were reported.

The cops and The fire fighter should have gotten a raise a long time ago. If the city is able to give the teachers raise then the cops and the fight fighters should get one too. I hope they get the money they earned

Firefighters, cops, and teachers should all unite and somehow strike...bring everything to a standstill until things are made right...
