I can't fuckin stand the fact people look down on others for listening to rap. Like it's a pre-requisite to be black. Or a latino, since they are like a piece of undercooked meat, not white enough but not dark enough... just right.

I grew up and still live in brooklyn, I live by coney island which has a majority of black people and other ethenic types. I grew up around hip hop.

Don't get me wrong, I listen to everything from classical music, jazz, blues, rock, metal, rap, etc.

But I love rap, I don't walk around talkin or actin like anything. But I can't stand that rap is the only singled out music that people look down upon as "nigger-music", and "it's just studio produced beats with nonsense lyrics"... Yeah like you understand half the words in a metal song.

I'll take the Jigga man over death metal anyday.

Face the facts. Rap has outsold everything for the past few years. Dont get me wrong i love other types of music. (except for country not sung by hot chicks) but i will always live up to at least one stereotype by listening to it.

Now all Wiggers should be executed head first on the spot.

Since i live in a certain neighborhood it almost makes sense to all the people around me that the only thing i should listen to is Hip-Hop..so not the case. I'm sure of the fact that i'm the only person on my block who listens to The Pinehurst Kids. Anyhow way too many rap stations (c'mon now 3?) I'm much more into the underground rap music and man do i hate The Cash Money Millionaires but they've had their day in the sun and now it's done. Thank you ever-changing rap listening audience.

I love the old school rap back to the days of DMC, Kurtis Blow, Grandmaster flash, LL, whodini, fat boys.

I love rock, classic rock, classical, but hey I love me some Jay-z, Nas, Biggie, Pac, etc.

Why these punks gotta front for, when they don't know the deal... I'd ask Lent but he's about as black as Bryant Gumpbell.

Rap music isnt that bad.

I just dont like the gangsta rap. They could be speaking gibberish i wouldnt know.

BUT rap music is not just "black" music any more. Rap music is big with suburban white kids. Beleive it or not but the Asian population is HUGE on rap music and the hip hop clothing fashions.

I've always called it "jungle music", but I get your point.

I don't think one should criticize rap because it's music that is popular among certain ethnic groups.

They should criticize for what it should be criticized for - being an awful, AWFUL genre of music.

I'm sick of people pointing to what shows up on the charts as "proof" that "rap sucks." If we went by whats on the charts as indicative as what each genre sounds like as a whole, would we listen to anything? That means Limp Bizkit and Nickleback represent ALL rock, Garth Brooks and Shania Twain represent ALL country, and so on and so forth...the loudest/flashiest/stupidest of EVERY genre always grabs the most attention. That's just how things work, unfortunately...but that doesn't make it right.

Ah well, at least it's not "metal".

See that is an assanine way to think. Your clothes are not what color you are, they are extensions of you. Where you were born, where you frew up, who you grew up with. I don't personally wear roca or fubu. I talk the way I do cause of where I am from, I don't 'try to be black', I am who I am.

Rap has it's merits, you can't just dismiss it as worthless. It has driven a cultural revolution, like it or not. I was never a rap fan but I liked N.W.A. and Public Enemy when they started.They were original, singing from the streets in the vein of punk bands I loved. The problem is that it has been rehashed over and over to the point where kids are singing over riffs stolen from the very bands they would deem "out of it." Plus the bling bling crap is always good for a laugh when you know they'll be broke in a year.
